Syfy filling out its gaming section, rebranding it as SyFy Games
Syfy had slowly been building up its catalog of games since the birth of their website in 2008. It had regularly been growing throughout 2009. Now, with the success of the gaming portion of the site, Syfy is creating a site for specifically gaming, Syfy Games.
Though the Syfy website already has a number of games like Dark Orbit, Deepolis and 9 Dragons, they are going to be adding many more. Craig Engler, SVP and GM of Syfy Digital, let the world know about this move.
Stargate Worlds entering closed beta period
Stargate Worlds, the mysterious MMORPG based on the Stargate shows, is finally entering the closed beta phase. On October 15, 2008, the closed beta launches, and FireSky is going to randomly pick people who’ve registered for the beta to participate. There’s still time to register if you’re interested, especially since the full game won’t be ready until 2009. Stargate Worlds is only for Windows users though, so if you’re on a Mac, you won’t be able to play…
Stargate Universe on it’s way next year
Hey sci-fi fans – it looks like Stargate is getting another series. Called Stargate: Universe, the new show is aimed more at a new generation of fans, and will take place mainly in space (hence the “Universe” part of the title. ICV2 has the scoop on the new series, which will be produced by Stargate vets Brad Wright and Robert Cooper, and will premiere on the Sci-Fi channel as a two-hour movie early in 2009, with episodes to follow in the summer.
