Apple will not buy its way into the gaming industry
What would you do if you were the head of a multi-billion dollar company that most gamers seem to love? You’d probably want to continue to make those gamers happy. After all, a happy customer is much more likely to open their wallets. Apple is in this position right now. It created highly sought after mobile devices and a distribution platform that completely disrupted the chain of command in the videogame industry. Through the App Store, Apple has sold an untold number of games and has taken 30% in royalties from every single one. One would think Apple would take that influence and form a videogame empire. Unfortunately, that’s not happening.
You could have been playing iPad games two years ago

Wi-Fi iPad available April 3, 3G preorders begin Mrach 12, 2010
Apple’s newest device, the iPad, has some new news about it.
Apple announced that the Wi-Fi models will be available to the American public on Saturday, April 3, 2010.
As for the Wi-Fi+3G models, those will be available for purchase in late April. For either version of the device you will be able to pre-order the iPad from Apple’s online store starting Friday, March 12, 2010.
Now the question is, will the minimum $499 cost be something justifiable for the public?
Sure, Apple does have a history of putting out some pretty solid devices, especially in terms of computers. This is important to note as the iPad is more a computer than a regular device like the iPhone or iPod. That being said, it’s essentially touchscreen netbook with more options, capabilities and a considerably smaller, thinner and lighter design. It also does have considerably better battery life than most portable computers.
