baroque fps

It’s always nice to see older, niche games being given a second chance on a portable platform. Given the ease with which many games appear on iOS devices, it presents a perfect opportunity to see if a new audience will appreciate an older game more. It seems Sting is hoping for that with Baroque FPS, more »

Atlus’ trolling of fans is now over. The result is half of the people who were following along are pleased, and the other half are heartbroken. When Atlus started this game of trolling its fans with hints at its next downloadable game, people quickly narrowed it down to two options. One was Growlanser IV for the PSP, a series that hasn’t been seen in North America for years, and the other was Gungnir for the PSP, the fourth game in the Dept. Heaven series that also includes Riviera, Yggdra Union and Knights in the Nightmare. While many had their hopes up that perhaps both games would be released, the news broke today that the mystery title is, in fact, Gungnir and we’ll see it on June 12, 2012…

Gamertell Review: Knights in the Nightmare for PSP

Knights in the Nightmare is a unique game. It takes a strategic RPG and a bullet-hell shooter, shoves them together and somehow makes it all work. This made it one of the most unique DS games out there, when it was released in 2009. Thankfully, the PSP port manages to retain all the goodness of the original DS game and the new control scheme actually manages to make this complicated game easier to play.

Get Yggdra Union free when you buy Knights in the Nightmare

If you like getting free games, then Atlus has a fantastic deal for PSP owners. Early Knights in the Nightmare adopters won’t just get Knights in the Nightmare. They’ll also get the PSP version of Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone. That definitely makes up for the game being moved from October 19, 2010 to November 9, 2010…

Atlus is working on bringing yet another Sting game to North America. This time, it’s the PSP-enhanced version of Knights in the Nightmare (KitN), a strategic RPG with bullet-hell elements that originally appeared on the DS in June, 2009. Atlus’ PR and Sales Manager Aram Jabbari and KitN Editor Scott Strichart recently hosted a demonstration of the PSP which Gamertell was fortunate enough to attend.

If you played the original DS version of Knights in the Nightmare, the story should sound familiar as it’s pretty much unchanged…

Time to explore dark and mysterious locations once again as the Wisp, guiding the actions of warriors while also avoiding energy bullets when not possessing a body. E3 2010: See what Knights in the Nightmare looks like on the PSP

One of the games Atlus was showing off at E3 2010 should sound familiar, it was Knights in the Nightmare, the PSP port of Sting’s DS game of the same name. While the game isn’t going to be released until October 19, 2010, there was qite a bit of new information available on Knights in the Nightmare‘s PSP port, as well as a new trailer to help people envision how the game will work without a touch screen.

Gamertell Review: Hexyz Force for PSP

Sting is known for unusual and unorthodox RPGs. Dokapon Kingdom (PS2, Wii, DS), Knights in the Nightmare (DS, PSP), Yggdra Union (GBA, PSP), Riviera: The Promised Land (GBA, PSP) and Baroque (Sega Saturn, PS1, PS2, Wii) are among them. Hexyz Force is a deviation, as it’s a return to traditional Japanese RPG hallmarks and gameplay mechanics. It’s most unusual aspect is it’s dual storylines, where players can experience two separate stories which intertwine to illuminate the whole truth…

Gamertell Preview: Hexyz Force for PSP

Gamertell recently had the opportunity to watch Hexyz Force in action with Atlus’ Project Lead Clayton Chan and see just how the forthcoming Sting PSP RPG is shaping up. It’s a fairly unique title because its really more like two RPGs in one.

Players step into the shoes of the knight Levant or the cleric Cecilia to experience two different stories set in two sides of Berge. Levant is from Dark Berge, which is constantly, you guessed it, dark. He is a knight of the Rosenbaum Empire, and is tasked with brokering peace with the nonhuman Halbmenschen. Cecilia lives in Lustrous Berge, constantly bathed in sunlight, and discovers she is a Hexyz and the Maiden of the Staff. She must protect the world from the resurrection of the God of Destruction. The two stories and missions are separate, but often overlap…

Altus bringing Hexyz Force to North America

Atlus obviously wants to let its fans know that the company will have their gaming needs covered well into the new year. For the Wii, there’s Shiren and Trauma Team coming out. DS owners can eagerly anticipate SMT: Strange Journey. Now, PSP owners not only have Metal Slug XX to look forward to, but Hexyz Force as well. Atlus has picked up another of Sting’s games and is preparing it for a May 25, 2010 release.

Atlus is billing Hexysz Force as two RPGs one, which a pretty accurate description. There are two main characters, Cecilia and Ravant, you can choose to play as…
