Don’t punish customers for playing MW3 early, punish retailers
Some retailers such as Kmart sold early copies of Modern Warfare 3 to customers. Some customers tried to sell copies on eBay (one sold for $1,725), and others were just stoked they got early access to one of the most anticipated games of the year. Even though these games were obtained legally, playing them on Xbox Live could result in dire consequences. In other words, you could get banned. I think this is the most ridiculous situation I’ve read about all week.
GameStop stores in New Jersey break street date on Assassin’s Creed II, Left 4 Dead II
A week after GameStop’s corporate office authorized some of its stores to break street date on Modern Warfare 2, three New Jersey stores have done the same with Assassin’s Creed II and Left 4 Dead II.
The much-anticipated sequels went on sale there November 14, 2009. The actual street date for both games is November 17, 2009, available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and, in the case of Left 4 Dead 2, PC as well.
Clerks sought permission to break street date after an independent store in the Jersey City area did so. The move is apparently only for Jersey City…

It should probably not come as a surprise that some retailers decided to break the November 10, 2009, street date on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The events that transpired afterward are definitely worth noting, though.
GameStop contacted COD publisher Activision regarding retailers breaking the street date. These conversations led to the retailer deciding to break street date in areas where other retailers had already done so.
