CES 2012: LG presents cloud and gesture-based gaming [videos]

LG 3D games

Earlier this week, I told you how LG is embracing gaming by creating a gesture cam and a cloud gaming service for CES 2012. I promised a video of those games, and I’m delivering the goods today. The two videos that are posted after the break demonstrate Fruit Ninja in 3D and Street Fighter IV more »

LG Android phone gets exclusive access to Street Fighter IV

It has been a long time coming, but Street Fighter IV is finally coming to Android smartphones. Well actually, the game is coming to one Android smartphone before branching out to other devices. Today, LG announced a deal with Capcom to debut Street Fighter IV on its first HD Android smartphone. The exclusivity deal will last for three months.

4 Capcom iOS games on sale for 99¢

If you like iOS games made by major developers, then go add some money to your iTunes wallet. Capcom’s got a temporary sale going on and has reduced four major iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch games. In the case of three of the games, the reason is just because the company decided to declare a Capcom action game sale. In the case of Street Fighter IV, it’s to celebrate the forthcoming July 2011 release of Street Fighter IV Volt. It’s not like the reason really matters, when you’re able to get great games for 99¢…

Help Japan when you buy Street Fighter IV for your iPhone

What’s happened in Japan is heartbreaking, but you can make a difference with an action as small as an iOS game purchase. Capcom has slashed the price of Street Fighter IV for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch worldwide. If you buy it at that price, all of the money you paid will go directly to Japan relief efforts. Think about it, for 99¢ you get to help people out and buy a great game. I think you’ll find it’s worth it…

Next Street Fighter IV iOS update adds Sagat to the roster

The iOS version Street Fighter IV is getting another update. Which means, of course, more characters. Even though the portable version started out with a truncated roster of only eight fighters, that number has grown as time goes on and after the next update there will be 13 characters to choose from.

The newest character entering the ring is Sagat, a bald, muscle-bound fighter with a rather stylish eyepatch…

Piracy fears preventing Super Street Fighter IV PC release

Even though Street Fighter IV was released on Windows PCs, Super Street Fighter IV won’t be, and Capcom has a good reason why. Piracy. 4Gamer.net was able to interview Yoshinori Ono, the game’s producer, and he said the number of people who pirated the PC version of Street Fighter IV discouraged Capcom. While it did sell, and very well, lots of people pirated it.

I found it funny that Ono claimed in the interview that Street Fighter IV was “number one” when it came to illegal downloads…

Mad Catz suffers first quarter loss, Street Fighter IV to blame

Mad Catz released the financial figures for its first quarter ending in June 2010. It saw a 11% loss in net sales compared to the same time last year. In addition to a loss in sales, Mad Catz also reported a rise in operating costs. The result of which ended up costing Mad Catz an additional $0.8 million. The primary reason behind the loss in sales? Street Fighter IV.

Play Super Street Fighter IV on a Super Street Fighter IV HDTV

Roundtable Concepts (RTC) specializes in unexpectedly cool, customized LCD and LED HDTVs. Previously, it has made TVs for sports team and Marvel comics fans, and now it is taking a step towards satisfying gamers as well. RTC has gotten the official “go ahead” from Capcom to make what could be one of the most expensive Street Fighter IV tie-in products – the Super Street Fighter IV LED HDTVs.

RTC hasn’t announced a price or exact release date for the Super Street Fighter IV TVs yet, but it has offered some details on what people can expect. The HDTV, as you can see from the image at the right, is multicolored and has the Super Street Fighter IV logo centered below the screen. Each time you turn it on…

Japan Import: Super Street Fighter IV headed to Japanese arcades

Playing Street Fighter on a console is all well and good, but there’s just something special about playing it on an arcade machine. Maybe it’s the atmosphere, maybe it’s the different control scheme, maybe it’s the fact you’ll have to pop in more quarters if you lose, but it’s just a whole different experience. So Street Fighter IV fans will be pleased to know that Capcom is preparing an arcade release of Super Street Fighter IV to accompany the console releases.

Yoshinori Ono, producer of Street Fighter IV confirmed the arcade release. Ono was attending an April, 2010 3v3 Street Fighter IV National Championship Tournament in Japan, and made the Super Street Fighter IV arcade announcement there…

Street Fighter IV will release on the App Store in March 2010 for $9.99. It will feature a roster of eight characters including Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Blanka, Guile, M. Bison, Dhalsim and Abel. We’ll basically get some old favorites and one newbie.
