Important Importables: Japanese summer festivals

Summer in Japan is filled with festivals. Of course, if you’ve watched Japanese dramas or anime, read manga or even played video games, you’d probably already know that. You may have even encountered some of these festivals in the US, depending on where you live.

So since we’re sort of right in the middle of the Japanese festival time, this week’s Important Importables is all about the three kinds of festival you may encounter around this time if you’re in Japan or even certain areas of the US. PlayStation Store Update: Go Ninja Turtles Go! (September 13 to 19, 2009)

This week’s PlayStation Store is full of action-packed games to keep you entertained. First game available in the store is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled for $9.99. It takes everyone’s favorite ninja turtles Donatello, Micheal Angelo, Raphael and Leonardo back through time to fight Shredder, foot-soldiers and many familiar foes – including Krang and Leatherhead – to repair the damages done in the present. In this game you can face Shredder’s army alone, invite up to three friends to play at home or go online and play. Recreated in beautiful full 3D HD graphics and animations, players will enjoy that the game retains its favorite moments and familiar game play of the original.

This week’s PlayStation One Classic will take players back to the small ghost town of Silent Hill for $5.99. Follow Harry Mason through the town of Silent Hill in search of his daughter Cheryl lost somewhere on the dangerous streets of Silent Hill filled with bizarre creatures and strange people. Celebrate its 10-year anniversary and re-live the frightening story of Harry Mason and play the game that started it all.

Witchblade coming to theaters in 2009

Marc Silvestri, the owner of Top Cow Comics confirmed last week on his MySpace page that Top Cow’s popular heroine Witchblade is coming to the big screen in 2009.

Filming for the comic-to-film adaption of Witchblade is scheduled to begin September 2008. So far, Platinum Studios the developers of the film are planning for a 2009 release. A cast has not yet been announced yet but it looks like…
