Madden Bowl to air on ESPN 3 and Xbox Live

2012 Madden Bowl logo

Madden Bowl, EA’s marriage of competitive gaming and celebrity appearances, will air 9:00 p.m. (ET), February 2, 2012, on ESPN 3. Xbox Live features the sports network on its dashboard, so Gold members will be able to watch from their consoles.

Green Bay Packers defy Madden 11 simulation, win Super Bowl XLV

The Green Bay Packers didn’t listen to the Vegas oddsmakers or EA Sports’ Madden NFL Super Bowl simulation. Green Bay pulled off a significant upset in America’s biggest sporting event, winning Super Bowl XLV 31-25 thanks to a late interception.

That’s actually the complete opposite of what the recent Madden simulation said would happen.

In EA’s sim, it was Pittsburgh who clinched the game with a fourth-quarter interception.

Xperia Play announcement coming February 13, 2011

If you were watching Super Bowl XLV today (February 6, 2011), then you probably caught a very interesting commercial for Sony’s latest device. Not the NGP, the Xperia Play! Yes, the PlayStation smartphone made its debut, though the commercial didn’t really tell us too much. It just confirmed that it’s a Sonny Ericsson PlayStation phone with an Android OS.

Here, watch the Xperia Play ad for yourself…

Pittsburgh Steelers win Madden Super Bowl simulation

That’s it, put your money on Pittsburgh in Super Bowl XLV. The word comes from the Madden NFL 11 simulation of the Super Bowl, which has correctly guessed six of the last seven winners. That’s as good a record as any sports broadcaster and better than a few oddsmakers over the same time period. An EA Sports simulation also predicted Spain’s World Cup victory.

New Orleans Saints’ Drew Brees is Madden NFL 11′s cover athlete

You will forgive New Orleans Saints fans if they are extremely concerned about today’s announcement that star quarterback Drew Brees will grace the cover of Madden NFL 2011.

True, it is an honor to be asked to represent the league in this fashion. However, the athlete on the cover of the world’s bestselling football game often falls victim to one of pro sports’ most consistent cover jinxes.

Saints win Super Bowl XLIV, Madden NFL prediction was correct

That’s right, sports fans, the New Orleans Saints have just garnered their first superbowl victory, proving EA’s predictions correct. According to a post at 1Up, this marks the sixth accurate prediction of the game, in which EA uses football sim Madden NFL for accurate pigskin analysis. The only year they’ve been wrong was in 2008 when the New England Patriots suffered a tragic loss to the Giants. Full disclosure – I’m a Boston girl. It still hurts.

Get a glimpse of Dante’s Inferno during Super Bowl XLIV

We’d already heard talk of EA buying a 2010 Super Bowl ad spot to show off Dante’s Inferno, but now the company itself has confirmed it with a press release. EA has purchased a 30 second spot to run “Hell Awaits.” Based on the wording in the press release, it sounds like this will be a brand new game trailer.

EA also has announced that the ad will run during the fourth quarter, so if you’re not planning to watch Super Bowl XLIV on February 7, 2010, you still have some idea of when to tune in if you just want to see the ad. Or, if you won’t be near a tv, you can always check online later that day. AOL’s Fanhouse and Spike TV’s site both will have commercials…

Madden 09 simulation almost hit Super Bowl score on the nose

If the accuracy of its latest Super Bowl prediction is any indication, EA Sports’ Madden 09 is as good as any paid prognosticator. As we previously reported, EA Sports simulation of Super Bowl XLIII predicted a 28-24 Pittsburgh win. The real final score was 27-23 and things played out largely how the video game said they would.

The simulation predicted Pittsburgh would make things look like a…

NFL commish praises Madden’s contributions, including his video game

At his pre-Super Bowl press conference Friday (January 30, 2009) National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell fielded questions on everything from international expansion to revamping the league’s overtime system. One reporter asked about famous broadcaster John Madden, who is celebrating his 30th anniversary as a commentator. Goodell talked about the numerous ways Madden has become an ambassador for the league and even mentioned his now legendary football video game.

“His name is associated with the most popular game of all time in the electronic games world,” Goodell said. “And he’s had a huge influence over millions of who watch our game and play the Electronic Arts game.”

The Madden franchise has been the subject of controversy since…

Madden NFL 09 simulation predicts Steelers will win Super Bowl XLIII

According to an Madden NFL 09 simulation run by EA Sports, the Cinderella story of the Arizona Cardinals is about to reach an abrupt end. They did put up a good fight in the simulated Super Bowl XLIII, which the Pittsburgh Steelers won 28-24.

If that scenario actually unfolds in Tampa Bay, it will be the sixth Super Bowl win for the Steelers. It would also make Mike Tomlin the youngest coach in history to win a Super Bowl at age 36.

In EA Sports’ scenario…
