Important Importables: 2011 imported goodies gift guide

Sometimes, import games and consoles aren’t the right gift. I mean, the language barrier could be too much to overcome. Plus, they’re usually twice as expensive as a game from North America. That doesn’t mean you have to settle for easy to find items though. There are tons of fun little gadgets and goodies from Japan that don’t need any translation to love! And, so you don’t have to sift through all of them, I did!

So here we go, with a pretty brief look at six different items that would work as gifts for the picky people on your list who won’t be satisfied with a gift that’s easy to find and from their own country!

E3 2011: Here’s Nintendo’s 3DS, DS and Wii game lineup

Nintendo’s E3 2011 website is up and it is quite glorious. The games the company announced at its E3 2011 press conference didn’t even begin to cover what gamers can expect from the company in 2011 and 2012. If you take the time to peek over there, you can see there are 11 3DS, 4 DS and 8 Wii games to look forward to. It’s going to be a very good time for Nintendo fans.

If you stop by the site, you can treat yourself to E3 2011 trailers, initial screenshots and a snippet of information available on all 23 games made or published by Nintendo that will be at the show. Or, if you just want the basics, you can keep reading. I’ll separate the games into sections based on platform. You could even copy and paste to use it as a wishlist, so you know what to watch for over the next year.

Nothing beats the original adventures of the brothers Mario. Whether you are ducking down pipes, saving princesses, or jumping on strange mushroom or reptilian creatures, the originals were the best.

5 games we would like to hear something about in 2011

Sometimes our patience wears thin. We want to know all the information about games we’re interested in at once. 2011 certainly isn’t devoid of games, but there are a few titles we’re aching to hear more about. These are games that we expected videogame companies to talk more about by now, or at least acknowledge they exist. It’s going to be a long year folks, and it will get a whole lot brighter if we can get updates on these five games before the meteor hits.

Japan’s getting another new DSi LL (XL) on October 28, 2010. And no, we won’t be getting it. It’s a ¥18,000 (~$215) special unit designed specifically for the 25th anniversary of the Super Mario series. Which is why it’s official name is the Super Mario 25th Anniversary DSi LL.

A real Mario Kart coin-op kiddie ride (update 2)

Costing $0.50 (50 cents), this rockin’ ride was sitting pretty, looking hardly used (and from the hanging plug next to it, might not have even been plugged in). Strangely enough and seemingly for safety’s sake, there was a honkin’ huge lock on the coin lock. Thank you, Kroger. Thank you for keeping the Nintendo coin-op kiddie ride love alive.
