Super Monkey Ball confirmed for PS Vita

The cat was already out of the bag regarding a PlayStation release for Super Monkey Ball, but Sega made the official announcement today. Sega says this iteration of Super Monkey Ball would be exclusive to the Vita.

Apple releases list of most downloaded iPhone games of 2008

So far, the gaming media has been a little slow taking the iPhone as a gaming platform seriously and with good reason too. Yes, the iPhone does have the potential to create some amazing looking and innovative games, but the problem is that very few developers are taking the time to put out anything of quality past various puzzle and word game clones. For proof, you can check out our weekly App Store gaming update (which you should be doing anyway!).

So it should come as no surprise that when Apple announced the top downloaded games for 2008, there are some familiar names on the board. Some of these games have been featured on a top ten list for at least three weeks if not more. Keep in mind that this is a top ten list out of thousands of games. Regardless, here are the top ten lists for both paid and free games…

Apple makes iPhone a virtual playground for developers

According to an article in the New York Times, the now open Apple App Store for iPhone software offers more than 500 software applications, games, educational programs, mobile commerce and business productivity.

In the article, writers John Markoff and Laura M. Holson interviewed Steven P. Jobs, the co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Apple Inc., who explained the quality and sophistication of the applications for the iPhone placing the product in a class of its own…

Super Monkey Ball now available for iPhone, iPod Touch

The time has come to find out if the iPhone can stand up to Nintendo and Sony in its quest to dominate the handheld gaming market. Sega has announced (July 10, 2008) the release of Super Monkey Ball on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Developed by Other Ocean Interactive, the game will cost $9.99 and can be purchased straight from Apple’s new App Store. The App Store can be accessed by PC, Mac or via the iPhone itself.
