Microsoft denies intentionally shortening Kinect supply

Kinect has been very successful. Microsoft said its peripheral had sold 2.5 million units worldwide since launch. It’s undoubtedly an item in high demand, but Microsoft has been accused of manipulating the number of Kinect units it supplies to stores. Microsoft’s supposed method was to make its Kinect supply so low, customers would snatch them from store shelves out of fear of never getting one. Neil Thompson, the Xbox UK and Ireland general manager, has shot down these claims.

3DS release date moved due to supply issues

There was a time when seeing a Wii in stores was almost mythical. The supply for the console came nowhere near the consumer demand for it. Some say it was intentional and I wouldn’t be surprised it that were true. But Nintendo doesn’t want that to happen again with the 3DS. Following yesterday’s release date and pricing announcement comes news that the 3DS was supposed to launch this year.

Microsoft claims short supply of Xbox 360s in US

Jeff Bell, who heads global marketing at Microsoft’s gaming business, updated Reuters about the Xbox 360 shortage in the U.S during an interview and blamed it on the company’s failure to foresee the sudden increase in demand. Until now it was Nintendo that was finding it difficult to meet demand for its current gen console.
