Let’s have a little fun before we put on our game faces for Black Friday. We’ve been posting about Black Friday deals for several days, and it’s always interesting to get an idea about what products people are talking about the most. That’s why Mashwork, which is a “social media listening service,” compiled over 270,000 opinions on Twitter regarding Black Friday plans. Based on the results, gaming is getting a lot of buzz on Twitter.
Sony really wants to know how you feel about Qore
Last week, Sony sent out an email containing a link to a survey that questions how users feel about Qore. Qore is an episodic video feature that is offered through the PlayStation Network. The survey is meant to aid Sony in determining the future direction of products and services. In short, you are going to help shape the future of Qore.
Apple named top manufacturer of smartphones in J.D. Power survey
A report by J.D. Power and Associates has named Apple’s smartphones number one in terms of customer satisfaction. This marks the fifth time in a row Apple has taken this honor. Customers preferred the iPhone due to its simple operating system, design and features. Motorola and HTC followed behind Apple with a smartphone index rating of 763 and 752 (out of 1000). Apple ranked 795.
Survey suggests $250-$350 price point for NGP
Everyone is concerned that Sony will slap a big price tag on the NGP. This has been a concern after Sony first showed the impressive technology the NGP has build into it. The fact that the PS3 launched for $600 isn’t helping matters either. A recent Ubisoft-sponsored survey conducted by a company named Toluna, suggests Sony may charge as much as $350 for the NGP.
Nielsen survey shows Apple products are most popular amongst kids
A survey conducted in October by Nielsen has shown Apple as a dominant force in the eyes of children. The survey determined the purchase intent of popular electronic devices over the next six months. The most popular product was Apple’s iPad. A previous survey taken by Blackfriday.com also showed the iPad to be the top intended purchase on Black Friday.
Kinect among top intended Black Friday purchases
Sales figures for Kinect have not been released, but various reports say retailers are starting to sell out of the peripheral. Being featured on popular talks shows and backed by a half a billion dollar marketing budget will do that to a product. As we get closer to the busiest shopping days of the year, Kinect will no doubt be a hot commodity. Our Black Friday sleuthing hasn’t yielded any outrageous Kinect deals yet, but a recent survey says Kinect is in the crosshairs of shoppers.
Aksys wants to know if you want otome games
Aksys, known for taking chances on more unorthodox games like 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors may be looking to localize girl’s dating sims and visual novels. The company has created a ten question survey looking to gauge interest in otome games, dating sims that occasionally fall into the visual novel genre made specifically for women.
The survey is fairly general. It asks if the person taking it is familiar with otome games or interested in playing. Of course, it also asks if the person responding would be interested in actually purchasing games like that. What I found most interesting was the question…
Nielsen survey says people don’t like 3D glasses
The 3D craze has infiltrated the videogame industry on two fronts. The first is led by Sony with its stereoscopic 3D technology with required 3D glasses. Its closest competitor is Nintendo with its glasses-free 3DS handheld console. It’s too early to tell which side’s technology will emerge victorious, but if this Nielsen survey is any indication, Sony is in trouble.

Telltale wants your opinion on Back to the Future
Telltale Games are currently working on a game that takes place in the Back to the Future universe. Seeing how this is a highly liked and respected franchise, Telltale wants to make fans proud with this game. The company has a survey on its site that takes around 10 minutes to complete. Its goal is to pick your brain about story concepts and gameplay elements that may be included with the game.
