Max Payne coming to mobile devices in high definition
Not only did this morning bring news of a Max Payne 3 release window and a multiplayer announcement, Rockstar also revealed it’s bringing back the original Max Payne. No, we aren’t going to see this game a part of a new HD collection. Rockstar is shrinking down Max Payne for mobile devices.
Borderlands 2 out in 2012, appearing at GamesCom and Pax Prime
The rumors are real! Gearbox Software has been working on Borderlands 2 a followup to the surprisingly successful Borderlands. I guess that helps explain why the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition was a $14.99 download on the PlayStation Store the week of July 18, 2011. The follow up will be a multiplatform game as well, available on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC and should be available after April 1, 2012, since Take-Two wants to release it in the 2013 fiscal year.
Wedbush Morgan adjusts earnings projections for Take-Two after Duke Nukem’s lackluster sales
Duke Nukem Forever has caused market analyst firm Wedbush Morgan to chop $25 million off its first-quarter revenue estimates for publisher Take-Two Interactive. Wedbush Morgan had expected the long, long awaited installment in the shooter series to sell at least three million copies. Reviews for Duke Nukem’s latest hurrah have been scathing and the sales reflect as much. Wedbush Morgan now acknowledges DNF will be fortunate to sell even half of the three million originally projected.
MLB 2K11 million dollar prize won on contest’s first day
A perfect game is one of baseball’s most difficult feats to accomplish. MLB 2K players are making it look super easy in 2K Sports’ $1 Million Perfect Game Contest. Brian Kingrey won the prize only two hours after the contest launched April 1, 2011. This was the second year of the contest and the second time someone won it on the first day. Kingrey even obliged 2K Sports by using the game’s cover boy, Philadelphia Phillies ace Roy Halladay. He performed the feat against the hapless Houston Astros. If nothing else, 2K11 appears to have captured that team’s essence.
L.A. Noire makes you think like a detective before shooting like a madman
The year is 1947. The place is Los Angeles, CA. You’re Cole Phelps, a former hero from World War II turned cop. In a lot of the previews we’ve seen for L.A. Noire, Phelps is wearing his trademark suit and fedora that is reminiscent of detectives of the time. Phelps doesn’t just exit the war and start solving high profile crimes. He had to work his way up in the force. From walking the streets as a beat cop, to making suspects sweat as a detective, Phelps had to employ both brains and brawn to get to where he is. In L.A. Noire, we too will have to show some flexibility in our gameplay expectations.
Take-Two releases third-quarter financial results, shuns Max Payne 3 again
Take-Two just released the financial results for its fiscal 2011 third quarter, and the results aren’t bad. Take-Two brought in a profit of $40.8 million compared to $39.4 million during this time last year. Take-Two is proving that it can be financially successful without sales that would come about from a new Grand Theft Auto game.
Experience L.A. Noire May 17, 2011
I know people were hoping L.A. Noire would be released sooner rather than later. I recall optimistic people hoping for April. Well, it’s not going to be an April game. It’s going to be a May 17, 2011 release. If you’re in Europe, you’ll have to wait and extra three days until May 20, 2011.

Return to Rapture with Minerva’s Den Bioshock 2 DLC
I know you’re probably busy playing the single-player Bioshock 2 Protector Trials DLC that came out August 3, 2010, but you should know that another DLC installment is in development. 2K games announced today that the company is hard at work building Minerva’s Den and expand PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 owners’ Bioshock 2 experience…
Billionaire Carl Icahn buys a bunch more Take-Two stock
In a move drawing lots of interest on Wall Street, financier Carl Icahn has increased his ownership stake in troubled Take-Two Interactive from 2.5 percent to 11.3 percent.
Icahn has a history of pushing for either change in or the outright sale of companies he invests in. This has increased speculation that Take-Two will be up for sale in the near future, and as a result the company’s shares shot up 10 percent after word of Icahn’s purchase got out.
Despite hit franchises such as Grand Theft Auto and Midnight Club, Take-Two expects to report its second consecutive annual net loss in fiscal year 2010. Industry insiders are openly questioning the company’s management structure. The recent admission of Take Two CEO Ben Feder that the company he feels the company mishandled the release of downloadable GTA expansions will do little to restore faith.
Take-Two CEO admits Grand Theft Auto downloadable content released too late
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City wasn’t nearly as big a hit as Take-Two Interactive anticipated, despite being installments in one of gaming’s biggest franchises. = The double-pack of downloadable content didn’t crack the Top 10 on NPD’s sales charts in October or November 2009. During the company’s quarterly conference call with investors, Take-Two more »
