Single Mac Gamer Seeks: Episodic point-and-click adventure
About a week ago, I left Macworld Expo feeling good about the state of gaming on the Macintosh. I mean, can I really hold game publishers responsible for not making the trek out to San Francisco? Hardly any developers were there this year, but the expo still managed to pack in the faithful. I think many of the companies who took this year off will return in January 2011. But for now, screw them. Let’s talk about one of the companies that did bother to show up for Macworld Expo: Telltale Games.
Rumor Confirmed: Telltale has begun releasing games for Mac
Telltale Inc. today (February 11, 2010) confirmed today during the Macworld 2010 expo that it will, indeed, be releasing games for Mac.
Even better, the releases begin today (February 11, 2010) with Tales of Monkey Island. As for the next game to be released, Telltale announced in its press release that gamers can vote for one of three series: Sam & Max, Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People or Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures. You can start voting now on the Telltale website and until on February 21, 2010. The next game Telltale will release for Mac will be announced the following week and released March 2010.
Nintendo downloads for February 1, 2010
Morning everyone! It’s another Monday morning, and that means it’s time for new, downloadable Wii and DSi games. This week DSi owners are the real winners, as there are five new DSi games waiting for you to peruse and download. There are three new WiiWare games, which is the average haul of games, and only one new Virtual Console title. The single Virtual Console game is a good one though! It’s Alex Kidd in Shinobi World.
Aside from the addition of Alex Kidd in Shinobi World, there two other star releases. The final entry in Telltale Games’ Tales of Monkey Island series, Rise of the Pirate God, is now available on the Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo has just released True Swing Golf Express for the DSi.
I just hope you all like single player games. This week only one game, Downtown Texas Hold’em (DSiWare), supports multiplayer.
Gamertell’s Nintendo Download picks for the week are Alex Kidd in Shinobi World (VC), Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 5 (WiiWare) and True Swing Golf Express (DSiWare)…
Rumor: Telltale may release its entire collection for Mac in 2010
We have it from a very reliable, confidential source that Telltale Games may be planning to release its entire lineup of games to Macintosh very soon, possibly next month (February 2010).
The timing is perfect to coincide with the upcoming MacWord 2010, taking place February 9 through 13, 2010, at the Moscone Center in in San Francisco, CA (USA). An official announcement likely won’t be made until then. Of course, sister site Appletell will be at MacWorld 2010 to find out whether or not this rumor is true (and make certain we’re kept up on all the other gaming announcements).
Gamertell Review: Tales of Monkey Island 4: Rise of the Pirate God
The final chapter in our epic adventure of pirating and voodoo curses, Rise of the Pirate God, has finally arrived.
Due to the circumstances of the previous episode (which I won’t spoil in case you have yet to play it), you are now a ghost and at the crossroads of the pirate afterlife where you must choose your eternal fate. Because you are a pirate, your choices are an afterlife of thievery, swordplay or treasure hunting.
Nintendo downloads for November 30, 2009
Perhaps Nintendo is looking to take advantage of Cyber Monday shoppers, because it has released 10 games for download this week, four WiiWare, two Virtual Console and four DSiWare titles. Pretty substantial. I guess this also means there’s a good chance everyone will find something interesting to download.
The two most illustrious downloads this week are undoubtedly Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 4: The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threewood on WiiWare and Bookworm on DSiWare. The latest Tales of Monkey Island chapter builds up anticipation for the conclusion of the series, Rise of the Pirate God, while Bookworm marks the first time a PopCap game has been ported to DSiWare.
Gamertell’s Nintendo Download picks for the week are Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 4 (WiiWare) and Bookworm (DSiWare).
Gamertell Review: Tales of Monkey Island: The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood for PC
The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood is the newest episode in the Tales of Monkey Island by Telltale games. In the beginning, Guybrush is being hauled back to Flotsam Island, courtesy of the backstabbing Morgan. Once there, he is summoned to court to face charges for various thing he is accused of doing. Of course, each accusation is false and you must now break out of jail and get yourself free of all charges and avoid the violent hanging that awaits you.
Oh, and you also have to cure the island of the pox as well.
You will see a familiar face in this game taking the form of the prosecution. I won’t name names but let’s just say you will see plenty of loud jackets and flying arms.
Nintendo downloads for October 26, 2009
Hey Gamertell readers. The weekly Nintendo Downloads update has been absent for a while. Did you miss it? Well, its back!
This week, if you own a Wii, you can get into the Halloween spirit! Two of the four games released are guaranteed to get you in the holiday mood. I’m talking about Ghost Mansion Party and Zombies Ate My Neighbors. If you’re going to get one, go for Zombies Ate My Neighbors, its one of my personal favorites.
No Halloween-y games on the DSiWare store though. You’ll have to make do with last week’s Domo games.
Gamertell’s Nintendo Download picks for the week are Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 3 and Zombies Ate My Neighbors…
Gamertell Review: Tales of Monkey Island: Lair of the Leviathan for PC
What do huge manatees, mutinous crews, and voodoo curses all have in common? The third installment of Tales of Monkey Island: Lair of Leviathan!
In the last episode, our hero Guy Brush and his ship were swallowed whole by an insanely large manatee. Once inside, Guy Brush finds out that the explorer (who is now a bit loopy) he has been looking for was also swallowed intentionally by the beast so that he could it to get to Le Sponge Egrande, which happens to be at the manatee mating ground.
Guy Brush will need the help of the explorers mutinous crew (who would prefer to just live in the manatee forever), to escape the beast, and eventually get to the sponge. But that’s not all; you also have to learn to speak manatee to seduce the rather vicious Leviathan: a large, angry, female manatee that guards the sponge.
Gamertell Review: Tales of Monkey Island: The Siege of Spinner Cay for PC
The second half of the four-part Monkey Island series is out now and poor Guybrush still can’t catch a break.
The Siege of Spinner Cay starts with a daring sword fight against the mighty pirate hunter Morgan. (And, no, it’s not an insult sword fight.) After you get rid of her, you are off to save your beloved Elaine, whom you find on Spoon Island, along with a seemingly reformed LeChuck.
