Tales of the Abyss 3D is coming to North America

Hey, that Amazon leak was right! Tales of the Abyss 3D is being released in North America. Namco Bandai made the official announcement in the May 2011 edition of Nintendo Power. Granted, it was just a picture of the cast with a note saying the game would be released in America, but that’s good enough…

Japan Import: Tales of Xillia is a PS3 game

What better way to celebrate a game series anniversary than with a new game announcement? That’s how Namco Bandai decided to honor the anniversary of Tales of Phantasia in Japan. Tales of Xillia is in development for the PS3. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be released on the anniversary, but just a new game announcement is good enough. It’s the first Tales game to be made especially for the PS3, and it will be released sometime towards the end of 2011.

The first Tales of Xillia trailer has even already been released. Let’s watch…

Japan Import: PS3 getting Tales of Graces F

The PS3 is quickly turning into Namco Bandai’s go-to system for enhanced ports. First, it got a port of the Xbox 360 game Tales of Vesperia with additional features like Flynn and Patty, mini-games, monsters and such. Now, the formerly Wii-exclusive Tales of Graces is headed to the PS3 as Tales of Graces F

Bandai announces Tales of the Abyss anime at Comic-Con 2010

Namco Bandai may torture gamers when it comes to releasing entries in the Tales RPG series outside of Japan, but perhaps Bandai Entertainment can help ease that pain. At the Bandai Entertainment Industry Panel held today (July 23, 2010) at Comic-Con International 2010, a North American release of the Tales of the Abyss anime series was announced…

The 5 best Tales Of… games ever released stateside

Namco Bandai’s Tales of series hasn’t been developed in North America, Europe and other regions the way it has in Japan. We’ve never seen any of the DS entries (Tales of Tempest/Tales of Innocence/Tales of Hearts), didn’t catch the Game Boy Advance Narikiri Dungeon or Summoner’s Lineage spin-offs and weren’t priviledged enough to see Tales of Rebirth. We’ve also been neglected when it came to remakes, as we didn’t get the Tales of Destiny PS2 remake, the Tales of Symphonia PS2 port or the Tales of Eternia PSP port. And to us, Tales of Destiny 2 refers to Tales of Eternia, and not the direct PS2 sequel to Tales of Destiny.

This has given Tales of fans a greater appreciation for every entry in the series that does manage to make it out of Japan. To be honest, there really haven’t been all that many. And, while we do greatly appreciate the ones we haven’t gotten, Namco Bandai’s still chosen to leave some of the best entries in the series in Japan.

Today, Gamertell’s looking back at the five best Tales of games North America has been lucky enough to get…

Important Importables: Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2 review for GBA

Many people get caught up with the region-free DS and PSP games, but often forget that Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games are region-free as well. Since the DS is backwards compatible with GBA games, that means a whole extra library of import games is available.

I decided this week to take a look back at one of my favorite GBA import games, Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2. If you’ve heard of the PSP game Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2 might seem familiar to you. Like the PSP game, it’s a means of combining characters from many Tales of games into one with a new, original storyline…

Namco Bandai says no Tales of Innocence for you

Hideo Baba, the Tales of brand manager, released an exclusive statement to Cubed³ that Bandai Namco will likely not be releasing Tales of Innocence for the Nintendo DS outside of Japan. Tales of Innocence was released in December, 2007 in Japan and was the ninth Tales of title. It featured 3D graphics, a battle system similar to Tales of Destiny and Tales of the Abyss, and a guild system for acquiring missions like the one in Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology.

Two Tales of titles to celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary

I love Tales of games. In fact, I’m still secretly hoping that the GBA title Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3 will somehow get a North American release. So of course I am pleased to announce that a new press release from Namco Bandai states that 2008 will mark the arrival of two new titles in the series, Tales of Vesperia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Vesperia will be appearing on the Xbox 360 and the Symphonia sequel will be on the Wii. Both titles do not have a definite release date, but the press release states they will be released in 2008 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Tales of series.
