Yu-Gi-Oh 5D’s World Championship 2011 coming out in, you guessed it, 2011
If you’re still interested in Yu-Gi-Oh, then Konami has some great news for you – a new game will be out in a few months! It’s Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus, the follow-up to the surprisingly well received Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2010: Reverse of Arcadia. As usual, the game combines classic Yu-Gi-Oh TCG gameplay with a story mode that taps the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s anime for inspiration…
World of Warcraft trading card game finds new home
In a state of limbo since Blizzard ended its relationship with Upper Deck Entertainment in February 2010, the card game based on World of Warcraft is back in action.
It’s now in the hands of Cryptozoic Entertainment, a new company formed by former Blizzard Director of Global Business Development Cory Jones and John Nee, formerly the vice president of business development at DC Comics.
PAX 07 right around the calendar corner
The Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) is all about games and gamers. Lots of games. Lots of games and lots of gamers. Games of all types and gamers of all shapes and sizes. If you can play it, it will likely be there in some form for you to enjoy.
This year, PAX 07 has moved to downtown Seattle, WA, for the three-day event being held from 2 p.m., August 24, 2007 to 6 p.m., August 26, 2007, at the The Washington State Convention and Trade Center. The larger venue was necessary to accommodate the annually increasing size of the event. The first PAX. held in 2004 in Bellevue. WA, had 3,300 attendees and more than 30,000 are expected to attend this year. Tickets are $50 for the entire three-day event.
New Star Wars PocketModel TCG: Pics and ships
WizKids recently sent me samples of their latest Trading Card Game, Star Wars PocketModel TCG, released this past week (late June 2007).
Each game pack, which retails for $4.99, includes 4-8 pocket models (on two plastic cards), 6 game cards, an instruction/rules sheet and a pair of really tiny dice. The unique, and rather unusual, aspect of this game is that the “pocket models” are actually miniature ships. A free sample coupons is available on the WizKids’ web site where you type in your zip code and print the resulting page to pick two free cards and three ships (an X-Wing and two TIE Fighters) at a local shop. The coupon expires July 30, 2007.
Each plastic card in a game pack contains glossy, full-color precut ship parts that you pop out and piece together referencing a tiny wireframe diagram and itty, bitty guide letters on each connection point.
