Sessler uses his soapbox to discuss video game violence (again)
The debates concerning video game violence will never die, not as long as there are parents out there who are all-too-willing to succumb to fear-mongering rather than actually researching and investigating what occupies the time of their offspring.
This latest rendition of the game violence debate comes as a result of Sega’s decision to air a trailer for MadWorld, one of their more controversial titles that will see an exclusive release on Nintendo’s Wii. According to G4, someone became offended at Sega’s decision to air the trailer, prompting Adam Sessler to examine this poignant issue once again.
Throughout his time on the Soapbox, Sessler made it clear that the scene that was considered “questionable” was…
G4′s CES 2008 Best of the Best list
Now that CES is about over, it’s time for companies to start rolling out “Best of CES” lists. G4′s gone one better and compiled its own “Best of the Best” list, likely based on the items the TV crew could fondle between producing its live-ish coverage. (PS: CNet’s recent acquisition, Natalie Del Conte, is yummy. Thank for putting her on screen, G4).
The fifteen-item list is divided into three subcategories with five items each: Mainstream Tech, Hardcore Tech and Media Tech. None of the items are game specific, though a few could be used with games including the Sony XEL-1 OLED TV, Pico Projector and the Asus Eee PC 4G laptop and possibly the Lightglove Virtual Controller.

G4 anounces G-Phoria 2007 game awards
G4, the cable channel dedicated to videogames, has closed the voting for this year’s annual G-Phoria awards, airing the results last night (August 8, 2007) on its review show, X-Play. The show is hosted by the gutteral-voiced Adam Sandler and sexy Amazonian, Morgan Web.
There weren’t any huge surprises, except maybe that the best system was the Xbox 360, even though the Wii has been selling well and usually seems to get favorable reviews from the channel. Of course the awards were voted on by gamers, so there’s no accounting for actual taste.
Gears of War took the most awards including Game of the Year. The Wii had a decent showing with four games and not one PS3 exclusive won an award.
This year’s award winners are…
G4′s E3 2007 coverage
For people who cannot visit E3 in person – which is 99.99% of the world – all the blogs and writing in the world cannot portray the experience as well as video. After all, it is insane (see, even I still try).
Cable channel G4 is trying to keep the E3 love alive with live broadcasts of the big three press events – Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft – a first for the Expo. In the past, you were luck to get a slow web stream videos of one or two of the conferences a few hours later. G4 will also provide a live stream of the conferences on its web site.
Of course, with the new format, E3 won’t be nearly as exciting to watch on TV since…
