Nintendo Downloads for June 23, 2011
Hey everyone! It’s Tuesday again, which means all your Nintendo systems have new games to download. There’s one new eShop 3DS Virtual Console game, three DSiWare games and one WiiWare game. So maybe there’ll be one or two games to download and play. Don’t go looking for any demos though. There are no new, free WiiWare demos to grab.
Gamertell’s Nintendo Download picks for the week are Pro Jumper! Guilty Gear Tangent!? (DSiWare) and Stratego: Next Edition (DSiWare).
Kim Sears: Gamer hater or simply feeling ignored?
Some girls just don’t like competition.
This seems to be the case with British tennis star Andy Murray’s girlfriend Kim Sears, daughter of a former tennis coach. According to gossip pubs, Murray, who is currently ranked the No. 4 tennis player in the world, spent about seven hours each day playing video games.
You may think seven hours is not a long time (considering how long you play) but, for Kim Sears, it was too long and she dumped him. So, for the rest of this space, allow me to make a Public Service Announcement to the more tech-savvy who are actually into this whole “new format” tripe. Gattaca, if you haven’t seen it, is quite the gem. It’s a grand dystopian epic of…
Stroke patient recovers using Wii
A stroke victim in Minneapolis is using a Wii as therapy to recover and regain his strength. Jerry Pope, a 77 year old tennis player, suffered a stroke in June that paralyzed his right side. According to his wife he couldn’t even stand up but now, along with other patients, he is trying an innovative program at Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Pope said that at first he started with regular therapy, but was annoyed by the repetitive exercises. That was when occupational therapist Mathew White told him about the Wii. He thought that by playing Wii Sports and simulating a tennis match, Pope would be entertained and the range of motion would help him with his rehabilitation.
