Review: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for PC

The story of The Witcher 2 is simple. Someone killed your king. You were accused of the murder. You break out of prison and try to find the actual assassin so that you can clear your name while trying to inspire balance between the kingdoms and races if peace cannot be reached. After all, the world you’re in is one on the brink of total war between the different kingdom. It’s also on the brink of an all out race war. There’s also the fact that your character suffers from amnesia. So, aside from clearing your name, you’re trying to find your past.

You’re not paying for Witcher 2 DLC

Anyone picking up The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings when it is released today (May 17, 2011) has good news waiting for them. Those people won’t only get to play the PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows game, they’ll also be getting lots of free, game-enhancing DLC. GameStop’s Facebook page had members of members of CD Projekt RED answering questions for a short time and on May 12 at 3:19pm, the free DLC announcement was made. So whenever a Witcher 2 DLC add-on is released, you can grab it for the very attractive price of $0…

Witcher 2 to offer permadeath option

Often times when a player beats the game once, he or she chooses to play through it again on a harder level. There’s also folks who want an even bigger challenge by playing it on the hardest level possible. Some RPG players take this to a whole new level of ballsyness — or insanity — by choosing to play with permadeath, in that once you die in a game you have to start over. No excuses. Although in most cases permadeath is a personal rule set by the gamer, there’s an actual permadeath option in The Witcher 2 such that when you die in the game, your save games go bye bye.

Fix The Witcher: Enhanced Edition with Hotfix

Atari and CD Projekt have a special delivery for The Witcher: Enhanced Edition owners. Let’s just take a look, well what do we have here? A shiny new patch to make the game better. It is a hotfix patch that is going to get rid of the critical errors that would pop up due to EAX technology issues in the game. It also is going to get rid of that annoying glare that would occasionally show up in the game as well.

The official fixes, as stated on The Witcher website, are as follows…

The Witcher: Versus browser game to receive premium content

CD Projekt RED and one2tribe have announced that there will be premium services and items coming to the free-to-play, browser-based title The Witcher: Versus, a game based on The Witcher. The premium content will supposedly not grant an obscene amount of powers to those who pay – instead it will make it easier to manage items and fights, among other things. The additional service options will be added in the coming months.

The Witcher: Versus is almost like an online dueling ground…

Enhanced version of The Witcher available in May

The award winning PC RPG The Witcher is going to receive a special edition rerelease in May 2008. This time the game will hopefully be available in stores around the world. This isn’t going to be some minor change, where the developer CD Projekt RED includes an extra “Making Of” DVD or a couple of extra missions. This is going to be a total revitalization which will make people line up for a copy.

It seems like everything is getting a make over in the new version of The Witcher. Many cosmetic changes will be implemented. Levels will be completely polished, making them easier to navigate, look better and load faster. The inventory system will be redesigned and retooled to make it more accessible to players. Also there will be over 50 NPC models added into the game, as before all NPCs tended to look alike. Not only that, but over 100 additional facial animations will be created for the main character Geralt, and all NPCs.

The con will take place at …
