HBO Go is console-bound

What’s that you say? Video content from Netflix, Hulu Plus, ESPN, NHL GameCenter, Vudu, Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network isn’t enough for you? We’ll you’re in luck today my friend. During an earnings call that took place earlier today, Time Warner chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes announced HBO Go is coming to gaming consoles.

PS3 to offer streaming HBO shows

Among the 11 shows that will be available to stream are Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage and Big Love. HBO shows will carry with them a more expensive price tag than other television shows. Some episodes will cost $2.99 to purchase, more than double the cost for most other shows. The different series will also premier on PSN about 11 months after they debut on the network.

Time Warner intrigued by games, not planning to acquire more companies (yet)

In this troubled economy, it’s good to have a company with deep pockets supporting game making efforts.

According to CNNMoney,Time Warner Chief Financial Officer John Martin told a January 7, 2009, investor’s conference that the company’s acquisition of Traveller’s Tales has been “wildly successful.” Traveller’s Tales Lego treatment of Batman and Indiana Jones have been big hits and now the developer has access to Time Warner’s considerable collection of licenses. (We sure hope Lego Superman is on the way.)

Martin said that while the company is “intrigued” by the game industry, it is in no rush to acquire any more components just yet. Time Warner currently owns 52 million shares in Eidos, giving it…
