Square Enix New York Comic Con plans include 5 games and 5 events

The New York Comic Con will be held this weekend, October 13-16, 2011, allowing all those East coast people who didn’t get to attend the San Diego Comic Con a chance at fun, geeky adventures. Well, geeky and gaming, since video game developers and publishers occasionally frequent the events to bring joy to their fans. It turns out Square Enix will, like like Nintendo, be showing up with some things for fans to see and do.

As you can expect, this means there will be a Square Enix booth…

E3 2011: Square Enix’s lineup includes 8 games

Square Enix, one of the video game heavy hitters, has just announced it’s E3 2011 lineup. There aren’t any surprises this year. All eight games that will be on display at the event were pretty much expected to be there. The only surprising thing actually is that a few games that should be showing up, Final Fantasy XIII Versus and Final Fantasy Type-0, aren’t. Still, we’re always happy to look at an assortment of games from one of the biggest developers and publishers out there.

So let’s look at the eight games Square Enix has said it will definitely have ready for attendees to see. Then, maybe next week, stop by Square Enix’s E3 2011 website to check for more details…

New Tomb Raider film aims for 2013 release

Tomb Raider is coming back on two fronts. Square Enix will be rebooting the videogame franchise by focusing on Lara’s earlier days before she started tomb raiding for fun. A new film will also be created by GK Films. GK Films was founded by Graham King, who served as producer on films such as The Departed, Rango and The Town. GK films acquired the rights to make a new Tomb Raider film from Square Enix. The new film doesn’t have a release date, but its release window is sometime in 2013.

OnLive adds several Square Enix games to PlayPack

OnLive’s PlayPack has been somewhat stagnant since it went live at the beginning of February. The OnLive PlayPack is a subscription service that provides unlimited access to certain games for $9.99 a month. Think of it as the Netflix of videogames if you will. Today (March 1, 2011), OnLive announced it will be bringing a lot of Square Enix titles to its PlayPack. These games will begin to roll out “in a few weeks.”

Tomb Raider Trilogy arrives on March 22

Time to get into Tomb Raider again. Square Enix is going to be releasing a nice little trilogy for the PS3 called the Tomb Raider Trilogy. You’ve probably heard of it – it has HD versions of the PS2 games Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Anniversary. It also includes the PS3 game Tomb Raider: Underworld. Yes, if you pick it up, you’re pretty much set….

HD Tomb Raider trilogy gracing PS3 in 2011

Add Tomb Raider to the growing list of videogame franchises that are being released in high definition. In 2011, three older Tomb Raider games will be coming to the PlayStation 3. The listing for this game originally appeared on the German Amazon site, and was later confirmed by the global brand director for Crystal Dynamics on Twitter.

Fresh Tomb Raider details leak out

Square Enix officially announced Tomb Raider yesterday. Tomb Raider is a reboot of the franchise that will start by telling the origins of Lara Croft. The first details on the game are included in the January 2011 issue of Game Informer magazine. Since this is the internet, scans from the magazine have already been leaked. The entire cover story is now online and we’ve cherry picked some of the more pertinent details for you.

Lara Croft gets really roughed up in next Tomb Raider

Lara Croft’s next adventure has been confirmed in the January issue of Game Informer Magazine. As you can tell from the photo, Lara has seen better days. Lara was apparently involved in a really bad ocean storm and ended up on a beach. It sounds like Cast Away without the plane and volleyball. This new game entitled Tomb Raider, is going to take the series to a place it has never been before.
