GameStop customers really enjoy trading in iOS devices

iOS devices

Back in September, GameStop started accepting iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches in exchange for in-store credit. GameStop also resells these devices just as it does with games. It turns out customers responded very well to this initiative. It has done so well, GameStop felt it was necessary to issue a press release that states how successful the more »

GameStop wants your iOS devices

GameStop is now accepting used iPhones, iPods and iPads in exchange for in-store credit. GameStop isn’t in the business of taking used products as a public service, so it’s safe to assume GameStop will start selling these used Apple devices as well.

Target’s March 27 – April 2 ad has a 3DS trade-in deal

Target’s latest ad for March 27 – April 2, 2011 is out and it’s 3DS centric. Which is only natural, given the 3DS debuts tomorrow. Unfortunately, there are no sales. The system and games will be full price, so you’ll pay $249.99 for a 3DS and $39.99 for the 18 3DS games that will be available tomorrow. There is one positive though – Target will be having a DS to 3DS trade-in event very similar to Walmart’s….

Walmart wants your DS during Take-Back and Trade-Up event

You have a DS, which is all well and good, but the newest thing is coming out. I mean, that 3DS is just so shiny, pretty and new. It’s practically irresistable. It’s also $249.99. There’s only one thing to do – try and trade in your old DS towards the next big thing. Walmart wants to help, and is holding its first ever trade-in event to make things easier. Take-Back and Trade-Up starts March 27, 2011, the day the 3DS launches, and runs until April 30, 2011.

It’s just about a one month period, during which people can bring in their old DS units to Walmart and get credit towards a 3DS purchase…

(Update) Rumor: Steam to start digital trade-in service

Videogame trade-in programs are the devil. That’s what a lot of videogame publishers would say if they could speak candidly on the matter. That’s the difficulty of selling a physical product. With digital games, consumers are only purchasing the license to play the product. In essence, they don’t own anything. Steam could be one of the first services that allows you to trade-in your digital games for credit towards a new purchase.

Best Buy expanding its used game program

That used game program must already be working for Best Buy, as it has announced it is expanding the operation. Earlier in August, 2010, Best Buy stated that almost 600 stores would allow customers to bring used video games to the store service desk to see if it could be traded in for a Best Buy gift card. Now the company says all 1,089 stores will accept used games by October, 2010…

Warner Bros. DVD2Blu program offers cheap DVDs to Blu-ray movie upgrades

If you are trying to replace all those standard definition DVDs with higher def Blu-ray discs, Warner bros. wants to help. Well, at least with their own movies.

Dubbed the DVD2Blu program, you send your old DVDs (sans box) to WB, pay a replacement fee ($7.95 to $9.95) per movie and the company will send you a Blu-ray version of the movie.

There are currently 55 movies on the DVD2Blu list to choose from and, if you spend more than $25, they waive the shipping cost. That basically means you need to find three or four movies to replace, depending on the replacement cost.

Toys ‘R’ Us trying to be tops for game trade-ins

Gamers that have been trading in games to GameStop, Blockbuster and similar stores will be pleasantly surprised at some of the deals Toys ‘R’ Us is offering in its rookie year of game trading.

A $60 game purchase commonly garners between $20 and 25 in trade credit if one were to take it back the following day to most stores. Toys R’ Us is offering a whopping $41.50 in trade for the PlayStation 3 version of recently released racer Dirt 2. The mega hit Batman: Arkham Asylum will net you $43.50 on PS3.
