E3 2011: Paramount unveils new Star Trek teaser trailer at E3 2011

Paramount Digital Entertainment is boldly going where lots of men have gone before, E3 2011, to unveil their newest game Star Trek. A teaser trailer for the game was showcased on June 8, 2011 at Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s keynote address showing a bit about what you can expect in this new title.

E3 2011: Free virtual items from PlayStation Home

The show floor opened up to E3 2011 attendees today. Among the horde of anxious and sweaty people are tons of unreleased games. It’s really hard to wrap your head around the number of playable titles there are during an E3 event. While everyone scrambles about in the convention center, Sony created a virtual version of its E3 floor space in PlayStation Home for everyone else. That space has also opened up to everyone and it contains some goodies for those who spend a little time there.

Minecraft to be the focus of a film in 2012

Have you ever played the PC game Minecraft and thought, “Man this would make a cool movie?! Well your dreams are – sorta – coming true.

The popular brick stacking game is being made into a full length documentary, all thanks to generous players.

When Markus “Notch” Persson, the creator and programmer for Minecraft, announced that he wanted to found his own development house, 2 Player Productions decided that they wanted to be right there filming the whole thing.

PlayStation Store Update: Beware the Pale Mist of Destruction (November 10 to November 23, 2010)

This week’s downloadable PlayStation 3 game is Crescent Pale Mist for $5.99. In this side-scrolling fighter, players control a sorceress named Yunou who happens to be the only magic user able to use a deadly magic known as Pale Mist who must stop the toxic pale mist from leaking into the outside world as well as deal with the ones responsible for the leak — her former comrades. PlayStation Store Update: Let’s go fishing with Lara Croft (September 29 to October 5, 2010)

This week’s downloadable PlayStation 3 game is Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. Gamers with PlayStation Plus membership will have the option to buy the game through the beta they downloaded last week. This week’s PlayStation Portable Download is Rapala Pro Bass Fishing where you compete against real-life fishing pros for the biggest bass in the lake. There’s also the large list of goodies including price updates, demos, new games and avatar stuff…

PlayStation Store Update: Japanese imports make debut this week (September 22 to 28, 2010)

Starting this week players will notice a new category for Japanese PSOne Classics. Don’t worry, most of the games will have the option to read them in English. Those that can’t be translated, well, let’s just say its a good thing they can’t be translated but will have links to help sites to get through the game. Just remember in Japan “X” means cancel and “O” means confirm. But be warned a lot of Japanese games push the boundaries that would drive the US censorship boards nuts.

A good example of this type of game is Cho Aniki (translation: Super Big Brother) which is actually a shooter that features bulging bodybuilders flying through space. So please check out the developer’s English site for information about the game before downloading.

This week’s downloadable PlayStation 3 game is Space Invaders Infinity Gene, a trippy retro update to the original Space Invaders released as an arcade game in 1978. This week’s PlayStation Portable Download is Gladiator Begins with the ability to customize male or female gladiator to pit against other gladiators and wild animals to earn their freedom. PlayStation Store Update: Survive a fuedal Japan and an areal dogfight (September 8 to 14, 2010)

This week’s downloadable PlayStation 3 game is actually a demo to look out for called Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes. Created by the same people who created Devil May Cry 4, players are placed in the midst of a Japanese 6th century clan war. This week’s PlayStation Portable Download is Ace Combat Joint Assault.
