Only new Vita games net players trophies
We already knew Sony wanted to get more money out of people when it came to the Vita by requiring a factory reset if you decided you wanted to switch to a different PlayStation Network account on the system. Now, it turns out they want to get more money out of people when it comes to games. Like the PS3, the Vita allows people to earn trophies by meeting certain objectives in games. Unlike the PS3, only new Vita games can boost your overall gamerscore.
Here’s how it works…
DC Universe Online trophies can be yours for $15
After a tough week of server problems, Sony Online Entertainment has managed to deploy a fix that brings better stability to the DC Universe Online servers. The weight of new free-to-play users proved to be too much for the servers to handle. Those free users have access to almost all of the things as those that pay, but are limited in terms of character slots, available cash and even trophies. We thought now would be a good time to remind you new players out there that you won’t be unlocking any trophies if you aren’t a Legendary member.

Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 4 Greatest Hits box shows trophy support
Next time you’re in your favorite game-selling store, amble over to the PS3 games and check out a copy of the Greatest Hits version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Apparently, the boxart has been changed, and most would say for the better. Flip to the back and look at the top, where it lists features the game has. It may just say “trophies” after “multiplayer” and “voice chat.”
Funny, because MGS4 doesn’t have trophies…

‘Splosion Man now supports avatar awards
Splosion Man was one of the shining jewels in the Xbox 360′s summer of arcade festivities earlier this year (2009). It involved the simple concept of exploding your character through platform-heavy levels to end the stage. Splosion Man is also one of the first games to give awards that can be used by your Xbox 360 avatar.
Twisted Pixel sent a press release about a patch for Splosion Man that adds avatar awards in the form of clothing and fixes some multiplayer issues.
Playstation Trophies to litter GTA IV landscape in October 2009
Thanks to Sony’s firmware update 2.41, however, Playstation 3 owners will also have the opportunity to earn ‘achievements’ akin to their 360 brethren. Rockstar announced that 51 trophies will be patched into the game via this firmware update, which will allow it to have a singular achievement not available in the 360 version of the game…
