Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is going to receive a versy special honor soon, it’s going to receive a Game of the Year release. That means if you haven’t already picked up the game, you can get it and tons of DLC in one quick swoop. And considering this special release will include over $35 worth of free DLC, it’s practically a steal.

Do you love the Naughty Dog and Sony’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves to spend $65 on its art book? What about $129? Or maybe $300? Ballistic Publishing is releasing three separate editions of The Art of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves in April, 2010, and those are the prices for each of them. Each book is 272 pages long and features art and designs Naughty Dog used when creating the PS3 game.

The $300 version of The Art of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a limited folio edition with only 200 copies available. It’s bound in black suede leather, hand numbered, has a leather bound case, gold cover art and comes with a certificate of authenticity…

It wasn’t surprising to hear that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves received the Audio of the Year award March 12, 2010, at Moscone Center during the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco, CA (USA) following nine nominations prior to the event.

Games were judged by audio industry professionals as well as members of G.A.N.G. (Game Audio Network Guild). Uncharted 2: Among Thieves actually tied with Assassin’s Creed II for the Music of the Year award.

Without seeing the NPD sales figures for October 2009 one would probably not be too far off in assuming that Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be one of the top selling games of the month.

Uncharted 2 already packs in about 12 hours of single-player gameplay but its multiplayer mode adds an uncountable amount of playtime. Even with all that gaming goodness, owners of the game will be pleased to know that Uncharted 2 will get more content before the end of 2009.

The Uncharted 2 beta comes with three game types. First is the standard Team Deathmatch between the heroes and villains. There are four different characters to play as from both sides and they all carry the same abilities. The goal of Team Deathmatch is to reach 50 kills before time runs out. The matches don’t last too long as the kill total from four human players adds up pretty quickly. Each kills rewards the player with money that acts as experience points. We can’t do anything with these points nor do they provide anything more than adding on to your rank at the moment

Uncharted 2 will continue in the vein of its predecessor by hunting down treasure while following the trail of a famous explorer. This time, Drake will work to solve mysteries surrounding the famous explorer Marco Polo. One aspect of the game that is different this time around is the stealth mechanic that’s being introduced. It adds more variety to the gameplay, but the player isn’t forced to be stealthy. For those who want to mix it up between playing it safe and going in guns blazing, the game director for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Bruce Straley spoke to CVG about the investigation and hunt behaviors the enemy will possess.

The investigate mode is when enemies are not fully aware of Drake’s presence. They possess peripheral vision, which makes it a little more challenging for players to sneak by them. If caught within their peripheral vision…

The misadventures of Nathan Drake were certainly something no PS3 fan should have missed. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune is still one of the defining titles in the PS3′s exclusive library with its gorgeous graphics, lighting effects and top notch voice acting. We all knew a sequel had to be in the works but up until now all details were merely speculation.

The January 2009 issue Game Informer features Uncharted 2: Among Thieves as its cover story with 10 pages of exclusive content about the game. The premise has Drake following the tracks of Marco Polo in what appears take place in an arctic landscape. This time around Drake will have some stealth tasks to deal with and we’ll be able to do some free climbing as well.
