New director for Uncharted Film scraps original script
There were a lot of unhappy gamers following the first announcement of the Uncharted film. David O. Russell’s vision of an antique dealing family with a passion for dishing out justice was too far from what fans know Uncharted for. The idea of having Mark Wahlberg play Nathan Drake was also a point of contention. Now that Russell has left the project, it has been taken up by Neil Burger. His take on the Uncharted movie will be completely different than Russell’s.
Drake’s family in Uncharted film are like the Sopranos
The upcoming Uncharted film hasn’t gone over well with a lot of gamers. Ever since gamers found out Nathan Fillion was passed over in favor of Mark Wahlberg, they’ve dismissed the film as a failure. I wholeheartedly disagree since I’m willing to believe a movie based on a videogame doesn’t have to be terrible. New details have emerged about the Uncharted film, and it apparently has something in common with America’s favorite TV crime family.
PlayStation Meeting 2011 reveals NGP, PlayStation Suite
Well, the Sony PlayStation Meeting 2011 has just finished in Japan and we know now all the latest juicy tidbits about the newest member of the PlayStation family, the PSP2. Which is apparently now called the NGP. Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai took the stage to start off the event, which didn’t just focus on the new handheld. First, Hirai talked about the PlayStation Suite…

CES 2011: Sony’s press conference (sorry, no PSP Phone)
Sony’s CES 2011 press conference this evening (January 5, 2011) was long but packed with a main message: universal content delivery across all of its hardware products. In there is music, 3D video and, of course, more hardware (even thoguh Sir Howard said Sony wants sales to be more content and less hardware driven). Here’s a bullet point look at the highlights and key announcements from Sony’s press conference, hosted by Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Corporation.
Uncharted film couldn’t be further from the games
The Uncharted film is set to begin filming in the summer of 2011. Mark Wahlberg is confirmed to star as Nathan Drake and David O. Russell is trying to get Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci to play Drake’s father and uncle. That bit of information proves the Uncharted film doesn’t share many similarities to the game. New information regarding the film’s plot have been revealed, and it further sets the two apart.
An Open Letter to Mark Wahlberg haters
As you no doubt have heard, Mark Wahlberg is attached to star in the upcoming film based on the Uncharted videogame franchise. After this news was confirmed, many of you have raised your virtual pitchforks in protest against Wahlberg playing the role of Nathan Drake. It seems your desire to have Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake has been squashed. Yes, I know Fillion resembles Drake more than Wahlberg, and I understand he holds the popular vote. I still must plead with you to listen to reason. Abandon your constant Twitter posts about who could play a better Nathan Drake and open your minds to the bigger picture.
Mark Wahlberg is starring in the Uncharted movie
The rumors have proven to be true. There is an Uncharted film in the works, and it does star Mark Wahlberg. Wahlberg confirmed this during an interview with MTV. David O. Russell will be writing the script for the movie. Wahlberg did not come out and say he is Nathan Drake, but chances are he will take on that role.
Read about Nathan Drake’s adventures in Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth
Naughty Dog and Sony haven’t revealed any information on a third Uncharted game, but fans of Nate’s adventures will be able to get a quick fix next year. Del Rey will be publishing a novel by Christopher Golden called Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth that will have Nate globetrotting again.
Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth isn’t a canon adventure, so you won’t be missing out if you decide to skip it…
