Unique Features, the studio started by former New Line Cinema executives Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne. won an auction for the film rights to the PlayStation 3 crime hit. Game industry insiders are already drawing comparisons between Heavy Rain and the movie Seven, a thriller that was a huge hit for New Line Cinema.

Capcom wants to make big moves with its original properties, seeing the Resident Evil film series as a model for how successful its games can become in Hollywood.
