PS3 crime drama Heavy Rain may become a movie

In the era of CSI, NCIS and a couple million “true crime” shows on cable, it’s no shock that Heavy Rain’s search for the Origami Killer has taken its first steps towards becoming a movie. Unique Features, the studio started by former New Line Cinema executives Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne. won an auction for the film rights to the PlayStation 3 crime hit. Game industry insiders are already drawing comparisons between Heavy Rain and the movie Seven, a thriller that was a huge hit for New Line Cinema.

Lost Planet movie will have Dark Knight-sized budget

Capcom wants to make big moves with its original properties, seeing the Resident Evil film series as a model for how successful its games can become in Hollywood. Capcom Head of Character Content Business, Toshihiro Tokumaru, mentioned that the budget for the Lost Planet movie is between $150-200 million.
