I’m not really sure what to make of this week’s offerings on the various Nintendo eShops. I mean, nothing really stands out and yet somehow all three of the portable games seem like they might actually have potential. This week is a very good Nintendo Downloads week, and it’s all because of one game. Today is the day that indie darling VVVVVV shows up in the 3DS eShop. Are you excited? Wow. Well, this week’s Nintendo Downloads update isn’t that bad. Granted, on the 3DS you’ll have to perform an incredibly short system update to access the eShop and browse, but it may be worth it since Mighty Switch Force and Tetris are there waiting for you. The WiiWare and DSiWare games aren’t as inviting, but at least there’s something.

Unfortunately, there’s still no sign of Swapnote, the free 3DS app that will allow users to send messages over SpotPass to people on their friends list or nearby 3DS owners via StreetPass. The program appeared in Japan’s eShop yesterday as Itsu no Ma ni Koukan Nikki and it is supposedly going to appear in the European eShop today as Letter Box….

As usual, this week’s Nintendo Downloads are nothing special. Just one GBC virtual console game for the 3DS, three mediocre DSiWare games and one WiiWare game that, while it tugs at our heartstrings with nostalgia, may not be as good as we remember. So if you really feel like sitting this week out, or picking up Freakyforms or Pushmo instead, you won’t miss anything.

Also, if you want a drawing app for your Wii, you can test one for free. A demo of Paint Splash is temporarily available from the Wii Shop Channel. You can try it out, see if the full WiiWare game is worth $5….

Hey everyone! I know what you’re expecting. You think I’m going to say we’re seeing another week of disappointing Nintendo downloads. Well, you’d be wrong. While it is kind-of sad that there are only four new downloadable games this week, there are actually some promising games hidden in there. I mean honestly, only one of the games sounds like it may not be worth your time.

Hey everyone. Time for more Nintendo downloads. Let me just warn you, this is one of those weeks where you could just sleepwalk through the entire update. Nothing to see here, move along. You know, that kind of thing. Of course, that’s what happens when only four new games are released. Especially when one is another overpriced entry in a PC to DSiWare port. (Yes, there’s another House M.D. episode out this week. Go get the Windows PC version instead, as its cheaper and you get all the episodes at once.)

Though I guess you could give Double Bloob kudos for being the first game ever where the point is to save a captured baby dolphin from aliens.

Yup, you read that right.
