So, Dead Space 2 has been out for four months now. I’m sure you’ve already beaten the single player campaign and the game’s moved out of your main rotation. Well, there’s a reason to dust that disc off now, as EA and Visceral Games have some free DLC planned. We love freebies!

The free Outbreak Map Pack DLC has to do with a part of Dead Space 2 you probably haven’t tired of yet…

Visceral Games is on a bit of a roll when it comes to helping out its gaming community. Last week, a girl named Ashley received an autographed copy of Dead Space 2 and a custom drawing from Visceral after her dog broke her Dead Space 2 disc. Now Visceral Games is hard at work to implement a patch for the PC version of Dead Space 2 in order to assist disabled gamers.

According to John Schappert, EA’s Chief Operating Officer, in Dead Space 2‘s first week of life on retail shelves there were nearly 2 million copies shipped and it’s already outselling the original game on a 2-to-1 basis. It seems that the work put into the game as well as some of the ads that were running about the game – especially the hilarious “Your mom’s going to hate it” ads – definitely struck a chord with gaming consumers. Congratulations to EA and Visceral Games.

Dead Space 2 is now available for the PS3 and Xbox 360, so I’m sure there’s only one thing on your mind today. No, it’s not the thought of going out to actually buy the game! It’s Dead Space 2 DLC! Even though there’s a really good chance that you haven’t even picked up your copy from the store, EA and Visceral Games want to let you know that you’ll still have more to do in the game after you beat it, thanks to Severed…

It’s always fun when the designers of a game sequel toss a secret in for fans of the original. Any Dead Space save file, even one made after a few minutes of play, will unlock the plasma cutter weapon. The upgrades you put into the gun won’t carry over, but it’s still nice to see the weapon. This is even more of an easter egg since the original game was well-reviewed, but not widely purchased. Dead Space even featured an achievement that challenged you to beat the game using only the plasma cutter. Oh, the hair people tore out of their heads

Earlier today we told you Amazon leaked the image of the contents inside the Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition. We figured Electronic Arts would get around to announcing it officially, and it has. The UK version of EA’s website has confirmed the existence of the collector’s edition. No price has been given, but different items will accompany each platform version of Dead Space 2.

Amazon jumped the gun and posted a picture of everything that’s included in the Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition. The image can no longer be found on the site, but the internet has already saved that picture for everyone to see. Electronic Arts has yet to confirm a collector’s edition for Dead Space 2, but I reckon it will soon since it’s now public knowledge.

None of us would dare to do what Issac Clark does, but we love what he wears. If glowing mechanical suits are what engineers will be wearing in the future, then sign my great-great-great grandchildren up immediately. For now we’ll have to take what we can get. Visceral Games has a cool Dead Space inspired backpack available for pre-order on its site. It’s designed after the back of Issac’s space suit but contains no Necromorph blood stains. It can be yours in January 2011 for $108.

The latest episode of Gametrailers TV revealed some brand new details regarding the multiplayer mode in Dead Space 2. Dead Space 2 puts players on a space station called the Sprawl. Unlike the Ishimura, the Sprawl is more of a city than a space station. It will contain similarities to a typical city by contrasting the environment based on things such as wealth. Dead Space 2 will ship with five multiplayer maps that will give you a better idea of what life used to be like aboard the Sprawl.

Dead Space Ignition will be released in Fall 2010. It takes place on The Sprawl right before Issac starts his adventure in Dead Space 2. Everything starts off nice and calm until Necromorph’s start flooding the ship. Dead Space Ignition takes on a comic inspired art style. It includes three hacking mini-games called Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override. These games are complemented by four different endings that are dependent on your actions in the game.
