An inFamous tale of video game forgery

This story involves the game inFamous which was released on May 26, 2009. I was following impressions of this game closely and was shocked to learn how many people were enjoying it. Not being one to ignore peer pressure I decided to take a short trip to my local Walmart to buy inFamous. My plan was simple, my intentions were pure and my brain was ready to fill the shoes of Cole MacGrath.

Florida teen finds rocks in Nintendo DS box

Imagine walking into a WalMart, plunking down $150 for a DS game system and walking out with $150 worth of rocks in a small box along with some Chinese newspaper. Well that’s exactly what happened to Jodi Wykle in Florida.

Wykle purchased a Nintendo DS for her teenage son’s birthday – an awesome gift – but when he opened the box to pull out the handheld all he got was a box full of rocks wrapped up in some Chinese newspaper.

As if that was bad enough, when she tried to return it to WalMart they told her it wasn’t there problem and that she would have to call Nintendo. When she contacted Nintendo they…

Walmart’s Cyber Monday 2008 video game deals

Wal-Mart’s Cyber Monday deals are now in full effect. There is no shortage of games here at all. Granted a lot of them are titles a lot of us have never heard of before but the list is so expansive you’re bond to find something to pick up. The best deals have to be for Xbox 360 bundles that include Guitar Hero World Tour for $269. The game deals for DS, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii and PSP come in pairs for one price. With the exception of the PSP, you can choose two games for $30. The list in it’s entirety follows…

Walmart Black Friday 2008 ad leaked – has plenty of video game deals

One of this season’s most anticipated Black Friday ads for 2008, the Walmart ad, has just been leaked. BlackFriday.info, Black Friday Ads and CAG are all reporting on the various deals in the ad, with both BlackFriday.info and Black Friday Ads offering complete scans of the leaked circular.

While it doesn’t look all that varied at first glance, there are quite a few substantial deals. One of the most prominent sales states that 50 assorted video games will be on sale for under $16. The advertisement doesn’t elaborate on what games will be part of this deal, but five DS games (Barbie: The Island Princess, Ben 10 Defender of Earth, Bratz: 4 Real, Cake Mania 2 and Lego Star Wars II) and seven Wii games (Barbie: The Island Princess, Cooking Mama Cook Off, Game Party, Namco Museum Remix, Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from Krusty Krab, Summer Sports Paradise and Wonder World) are shown in the ad image.

The complete list of video game sales, as taken from the ad circular scan leaked online, are as follows…

Sam’s Club’s 2008 Black Friday ad possibly “doctored”

This past week several sites, including Gamertell, reported that Sam’s Club was offering a rather incredible Wii bundle deal for Black Friday (November 28, 2008, aka the day after Thanksgiving). Unfortunately, the price indicated in the scan of the print ad was incorrect.

According to a cease and desist request sent by Baker Hostetler LLP to Gamertell and many other outlets, the following line was requested to replace the image:

“The Sam’s Club advertisement included unauthorized changes that reflected inaccurate pricing information.“

A representative from Baker Hostetler indicated to Gamertell’s parent company, Dabbledoo Media, that…

Wal-Mart growing tired of big plastic instruments

The time is quickly approaching where we just won’t have anymore room to store instruments from all our past and future music based games. We started off with mid sized guitars before Rock Band, Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Revolution introduced drums that were unique to each game. XS Games was following suit with more »

Wal-Mart exclusive retailer for AC/DC Live: Rock Band

A recent announcement from Wal-Mart and MTV Games will give Rock Band fans a whole new reason to shop at the big box retailer – like an annoying friend who always has to call “shotgun,” Wal-Mart has dibs on not only AC/DC’s Black Ice album, but will also be the only place to find AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack. Wal-Mart has also stated that it going to take steps to make sure the game and CD are visible in every Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club store. If you aren’t near either store, don’t worry – the Wal-Mart website will also carry the game.

AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack features 18 songs from AC/DC, and let me assure you, it is epic. Of course, PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 versions of the game will be released, with the PS2 version costing $29.88 and the next-gen console versions costing $39.88. It currently has a tentative early November, 2008 release date…
