Mortal Kombat for Vita has touchscreen fatalities
Earlier this week, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced Mortal Kombat will be coming to the PlayStation Vita in the spring of 2012. We didn’t have many details to share at that time, but the Creative Director of Netherrealm Studios Ed Boon had more to say in an interview with the European PlayStation Blog.
Mortal Kombat on PS Vita set for Spring 2012
NetherRealm Studios is porting its latest Mortal Kombat title to the PlayStation Vita in spring 2012. Mortal Kombat was met with much praise when it was released for consoles last year. This time around, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment promises Mortal Kombat for Vita is designed for “on-the-go gaming.”
Mortal Kombat multiplayer could require an online pass
Sneaky Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment, they thought they could slip an online pass function into Mortal Kombat and keep it a secret. But that’s impossible. See, word is Warner Bros. is alerting all stores that plan to sell Mortal Kombat for the PS3 and Xbox 360 about this code that will enable online play, but they didn’t make any mention it at all when promoting the game.

Mortal Kombat in-joke Scarlet is now a real character coming as DLC
Mortal Kombat’s colorful history has been filled with secret characters so when the glitchy arcade machines of the ’90s put things in the game that weren’t supposed to be there, devoted players just figured they were more secrets. This was the case with Scarlet, a female ninja born quite by accident.
Existing female characters would sometimes have their costumes turned red by an arcade glitch. The “secret character” was christened Scarlet and became the stuff of urban gaming legend.
Warner Bros. Interactive will use Unreal Engine until 2014
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment must really like the Unreal Engine. The company just signed a deal that will make Epic’s Unreal Engine the exclusive engine for WBIE games until 2014. WBIE has dabbled in the Unreal Engine before, and it has helped produce wonderful looking games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
Mortal Kombat Kollector’s and Tournament Editions revealed
When Mortal Kombat returns to the PS3 and Xbox 360 in April 2011, gamers will have to make some tough choices. There are going to be three different releases of the game, with one standard edition and two special editions available. Not only that, but where you preorder the game will influence what kind of extra character skin and fatality you’ll get.
As always, there’s going to be a standard edition of Mortal Kombat that will only include the game for $59.99…
