Review: BloodRayne: Betrayal for PSN
I don’t know about you, but when I thought of BloodRayne, I thought of a couple sub-par games and a really bad movie. While I didn’t dislike the franchise in general, I didn’t think too highly of it either. It wasn’t until I started to see footage of WayForward’s BloodRayne: Betrayal that I began to think this series could come back in a very good way. After playing BloodRayne: Betrayal, I’m now positive that there is a place for BloodRayne on today’s and tomorrow’s generation of consoles. The fact is, BloodRayne: Betrayal is one of the finest downloadable games I’ve played this year.
E3 2011: Centipede: Infestation first-hand impressons, boss battle (video)
My brother and I have an ongoing debate about classic arcade game updates: He hates them and I understand them. In some cases, those old cabinet games only worked because of their simplicity. Occasionally, though, the action can translate to a modern gaming engine if done right. I’m happy to say Atari’s Centipede: Infestation for Wii and 3DS is being done right.
Majesco reintroduces Rayne in BloodRayne: Betrayal
It’s been six years since we’ve seen Majesco’s dhampir (half vampire, half human) Rayne, but that doesn’t mean the publisher’s forgotten about her. Nope, she’s coming back! We already had heard a 3DS BloodRayne game, called BloodRayne: The Shroud, was being developed, but now it turns out BloodRayne: Betrayal is in the works too! So prepare your PS3s and Xbox 360s for a new game download in 2011. Soon it will be hunting season, and vampires will be your prey.
BloodRayne: Betrayal has Rayne working for the Brimstone Society again…
Batman gets brave and bold on the DS and Wii
Warner Bros. is preparing some side-scrolling, action-packed goodness for 2010. Wii and DS owning Batman fans can show their strengths with Batman: The Brave and the Bold the Videogame. Players will get to be Batman and fight against foolish villains who even think about causing trouble and disturbing the peace!
Batman is nothing without the power of friendship, so if you want you can call over a friend or family member to help you out. There’s cooperative multiplayer and they can play as Robin, the Green Lantern or another DC Comics hero with you. The Wii and DS versions of Batman: The Brave and the Bold the Videogame will also be compatible. You can ask a friend with a DS and copy of the game over to assist you as you play the Wii version. The person with the DS will be able to join in and play as Bat-Mite.
Gamertell Review: A Boy and His Blob for Wii
The original A Boy and His Blob was a game that required you to use your brain to survive. Challenges weren’t always spelled out directly, and you’d have to find ways to outsmart or out manuever enemies since the blob didn’t have any real weapon transformations. The result was a game that become a revered NES classic.
Wayforward and Majesco have revived that classic with the Wii game A Boy and His Blob, and in doing so have created an homage that honors the original and will easily become a classic based on its own merits.
A boy is in his treehouse in the woods, spending the night, when he sees something streak across the sky and crash to the ground. As he ventures out, he sees weird dark blob creatures in the forest. As he works his way through to the wreckage, he sees a pure white blob come out. At first he’s scared, but he then sees the blob is no threat, and a friendship is born. He calls the blob over, and the two embark on a journey to save both the boy’s world from the inky invaders and the blob’s home world…

Ordinary high schools can be scary. Not during the day, though I recall certain tests or teachers were more than capable of inspiring fear, back when I was attending. No, I’m talking about after school. Wandering around deserted halls after 7pm. Never knowing what could lurk around the bend of a hallway, in the darkness.
WayForward Technologies builds upon that idea and creates a horrific scenario. A high school is overrun by the darkness, with all sorts of monsters lurking in the shadows. The familiar suddenly becomes foreign, and there’s really no way to fight these unholy creatures. All you can do is try and make your way through, staying in the light…
