The feuds began instantly in Season 2 of World Cyber Games Ultimate Gamer. Kat and Vanessa have some personal issues, as Kat took her boyfriend a while back. Vanessa promptly began working with Yaz to get rid of Kat. They sent Kat into an elimination match of Tekken 6, but she triumphed. In addition to that, she now knows she’s got a target on her back. AJ wasn’t shy about his crush on Faye, but we’re not sure yet if she feels the same way. Is AJ headed to the dreaded “friend zone?”

TV has been doing shows about competitive gaming since capitalized on the arcade craze of the ’80s. The latest TV show to try and capture the competitive fire of high level video gaming is World Cyber Games: Ultimate Gamer on Syfy. It combines gaming challenges with Survivor-style elimination games to eventually award a $100,000 grand prize to the Ultimate Gamer.

The SyFy Channel is bringing back the reality game show Ultimate Gamer for a second season. The premiere episode of WCG Ultimate Gamer 2 will air on SyFy at 11:00 p.m. (ET) on August 19, 2010.

The show, much like other pseudo-reality game shows, pits 12 gamers against each other in trumped up competitions that are somehow related to video games. If it is like the first season of Ultimate Gamer (check out our preview) of the series, contestants will partake in three challenges each episode and hope to not be eliminated so they can compete in the final episode.

The SciFi Channel is adding another show to its lineup in an attempt to capitalize on the popularity both of reality TV and video games. The result is WCG Ultimate Gamer which has a dozen gamers – male and female – living together and competing in a series of real-world challenges and scored video games for money, pride and a world-hopping competitive gaming gig. The first episode will air 10:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2009, and the entire series will consist of eight 1-hour episodes.

The show offers a fair amount of gamer pride, a little dress up (at least at the beginning) and plenty of hoke you’d expect from a reality series…

The American leg of US World Cyber Ggames 2008 will take place at the Samsung Experience in New York, NY, on May 31, 2008, and June 1, 2008. At stake are cash and prizes worth more than $20,000 along with a place in the WCG USA National Final. The first leg or the WCG 2008 US Open will include some of the best gamers in America who have their sights set on qualifying for the WCG 2008 Grand Finals in Cologne, Germany, in November 2008.
