Marvel Super Hero Squad has their own free online game

Marvel’s Super Hero Squad features kid-sized versions of iconic heroes including Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Though the property is aimed at kids, a lot of adults are following their cute little adventures as well. The Squad has appeared in their own Cartoon Network TV show and will soon be coming to your computer. Gazillion has created a free MMO based on the Squad’s adventures that is currently in beta testing. Gazillion and developer The Amazing Society have a 10-year license to do Marvel-based MMOs, so it looks like we’ll be hearing a lot from them.

The National Basketball Association playoffs are at hand and Playdom is taking full advantage with NBA Dynasty. This sim charges you with being the owner, general manager and head coach of your favorite NBA team. Unlike many games on Facebook, you have a level of interaction beyond clicking and waiting for things to happen. The first three quarters of the game are simulated but, during the fourth quarter of games, you have the option to coach the team. You’re trusted with three timeouts as well as first aid kits for injuries and sports drinks to get players back in the game fast.

You will, as the name suggests, fight off the oncoming zombie apocalypse. You’ll also clean up the neighborhood, harvest your own food and rescue your neighbors. It is a Facebook game after all.

Sega’s MLB Manager lets you run your own baseball franchise

Sega has already gotten its feet wet in the free-to-play sport sim category with Football Manager. Coming March 2011, Sega will launch MLB Manager, a free online baseball sim.

The MLB license gives Sega access to all 30 teams and 900 players that will appear in the game. It will launch in the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea.

Playfish’s Madden Superstars tackles Facebook head on

EA and Playfish’s latest social gaming collaboration, Madden Superstars, is now live on Facebook.

It has a lot in common with the Madden Ultimate Team game in Madden NFL 11. You can purchase packs of cards to fill out your football team’s roster, which of course starts out pretty weak. I got a “Limited Edition” card out of a pack and was excited, until I saw it was journeyman Rex Grossman.

Digital Chocolate claims it created Mafia Wars name, files lawsuit against Zynga

Mafia Wars, a game about showdowns between crime families, is now the subject of a real legal showdown.

Digital Chocolate, the social gaming company headed by Electronic Arts founder Trip Hawkins, is saying it created the name Mafia Wars. Venture Beat reports on the conflict, which is sure to get mob battle ugly.

FIFA Superstars error may reveal Madden Facebook game currently in development

In February 2010, EA Sports President Peter Moore announced Madden NFL would be coming to Facebook.

He didn’t give an exact release date but a glitch in EA’s popular FIFA Superstars soccer game shows Madden Superstars may be available rather soon.
