CoD Elite members will get exclusive video content
By now we know that Call of Duty Elite will be a subscription service that will accompany CoD Modern Warfare 3 and every CoD game afterwards. A big part of CoD Elite is social networking. We’ll be able to compare all kinds of stats, team up with players of similar interests and jump into events that are constantly updating. Another feature that wasn’t talked about as much is a new web series that will only be available to CoD Elite subscribers.
Felicia Day to star in Dragon Age web series
Felicia Day, affectionately known by many as the “Princess of the Nerds” and star of The Guild, is starring in a live-action web series based on the Dragon Age universe. The story will take place in Ferelden, a setting familiar to anyone who’s played Dragon Age: Origins.
Angry Birds to become an animated series (update)
Joining the ranks of Mario, Bomberman and Link, the latest video game to make the move to animated cartoon is going to be the franchise Angry Birds.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the animated series will be produced for TV or the web (although it was mentioned as a “broadcast” show which hints at TV). Rovio has not announced what company is producing the animation or when it will be released but Rovio CEO Mikael Hed has mentioned to C21media that the show is in the production phase.
Interview: Gamertell talks to The Guild star, creator Felicia Day
I recently spoke with Felicia Day, the star and creator of the web series The Guild. Felicia was very nice and seemed to enjoy answering all my questions.
The Guild is a web-based show about six quirky gamers who play an on-line World Of Warcraft-type game together. The six players are all very good at the game but not so good with social interactions, which makes for very funny and tragic adventures.
The third season of the show is now available through CreateSpace DVD on-Demand and will also be available as a full season download through Amazon Video on Demand. The series will be $14.95 and will include bonus content not shown on the web including the Halloween episode; “Do You Want to Date My Avatar” music video; Guild applicant rejects; “How to Build Vork’s Sword”; audio commentary with the cast, creator, director and producer; Axis of Anarchy interviews and gag reels.
Gamertell Interview: Cast, director talk about online horror series, Fear Clinic
Fear Clinic is one of the first series that will be exclusively online and will play exclusively on Fearnet.com sometime in October 2009. The show is directed by Robert Hall (Sarah Connor Chronicles, Laid to Rest) and includes horror greats Robert Englund and Kane Hodder (Freddy and Jason, respectively), co-stars Danielle Harris (Halloween remake) and newcomer Lucas Till, among others.
The show is about Dr. Andover (Englund) who claims to be able to cure any phobia by using his patented “fear chamber.” Several unsuspecting clients come to his clinic hoping to get cured. They realize however, the horrors that are in store for them. There are five episodes made so far, each dealing with a different phobia.
Gamertell was fortunate enough to sit at a roundtable interview with Hall and the actors to discuss this upcoming series.
The Guild coming to Xbox Live, sponsored by Microsoft
Just in case you missed its excellent debut season in 2007, The Guild is an online sitcom focused on a group of MMORPG players and the problems that their guild faces both in the (unspecified) game and in the real world. The show won both YouTube’s and Yahoo’s Best Web Series awards for 2007.
After turning down sponsorship offers for more than a year due to incompatible ideas, show creator and star Felicia Day (known for her roles as Vi on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Penny on Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog) today (November 24, 2008) announced via her personal blog that the show has been picked up by Microsoft.
Xbox Live’s Scott Nocas approached Felicia with what she describes as…
