Gamertell Review: Snakebyte’s Premium Remote XL+ rechargeable controller for Wii
Simply put, Snakebyte’s Premium Remote XL+ resolves pretty much all the major issues you might have with your Wii Remote Controller: MotionPlus is built in, it is rechargeable using a standard USB cable and a Sync button is on the outside instead of inside the battery case. But should you buy it? Click through to find out…
Gamertell Review: FlingSmash with Wii Remote Plus
Nintendo marketed this game the wrong way. Instead of being sold as “FlingSmash with Wii Remote Plus inside!” it should instead have sold it as “Wii remote Plus with free game (FlingSmash)!”
This game is kinda cute and will kill a few minutes while you test your Wii Remote Plus (or your Wii MotionPlus attachments on your older WiiMote) but the controller is the real reason to buy this game. Click through to find out why…
Japan gets WiiMote Plus November 11
We first heard about the Wiimote Plus in September. It was listed on the cover art of an upcoming Nintendo published game called FlingSmash. Nintendo has confirmed the new controller since then. The Wiimote Plus is a standard Wii Remote with MotionPlus built right in. All Wii games moving forward will benefit from MotionPlus’s increased accuracy.
The Wii is getting a new controller
In the beginning there was the old fashioned Wii Remote. It’s motion control capabilities were decent, but nowhere near perfect. Then came a little accessory called Wii MotionPlus. By connecting this to your existing Wii Remote, you were given as close to 1:1 motion that Nintendo could offer. Now Nintendo has decided to permanently meld the Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus together in a new controller it’s calling Wii Remote Plus.
Gamertell Review: Red Steel 2 for Wii
Red Steel 2 is full of style. It’s a western with motorcycles, trucks, swords and crazy samurai dudes in face paint. The hero (named The Hero) wears one of those long coats that look fantastic blowing in the wind, even though it tends to happen when there’s no wind. But the game is not about style, it’s about sword play. Providing nearly 1:1 motion recognition, no other game has come this close to delivering such an immersive sword fighting experience. But that’s not completely a good thing.
Gamertell Review: James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game for Wii
James Cameron’s Avatar The Game is unique among movie tie-ins in that, rather than basing it on the movie, it appears to be based on the trailer. Or maybe just the one sheet or concept drawings. I don’t know but if you buy this expecting to play through the rather thrilling adventure that is Avatar, prepare to be disappointed.
Wii remotes get more colorful in 2010
The black Wii remotes and motion plus units are nice, really, but sometimes you want a little more variety than black and white. Nintendo is going to step up and expand the remote color pallette further in 2010. On February 14, 2009, Nintendo will release neon pink and blue Wii remotes.
As you can see from the image at the right, the remotes look exactly like standard remotes, only in pink and blue. As you can also see from the picture, matching pink and blue MotionPlus units and remote jackets will not be released. They will come with MotionPlus peripherals though. A price wasn’t announced, but it’ll probably be the same as the black Remote and MotionPlus bundle – $49.99.
Now that Wii remotes are appearing in different colors, I wonder if we’ll start seeing a rainbow of Wiis as well. If Nintendo does decide to go that route, I hope they slightly upgrade the Wiis by increasing the internal memory…
Miyamoto says next Wii might be more wee
In an interview with Popular Mechanics, gaming legend Shigeru Miyamoto talked about what he feels will be the natural evolution of the Wii and its various control devices.
They have the technology. They can rebuild it and make it better, cuter and, yes, smaller than before…
Penguin releases three Wii MotionPlus bundle kits
We all enjoy the Wii action and sport games for their realistic feel, well Penguin Unlimited, maker of some great gaming accessories, is coming out with three different bundle packs that utilize the MotionPlus accessory. The bundles include Samurai Sword, Golf Club, and Tennis add ons.
Gamertell Review: Wii Sports Resort for Wii
Wii Sports Resort may at times come off like a tech demo for the new Wii MotionPlus accessory, but is there anything wrong with that? By offering nearly 1:1 motion capturing, reflecting motions in a 3D space, the Wii MotionPlus brings a level of control to your WiiMote that simply wasn’t possible before. And that brings games to your Wii that weren’t this fun before. And yet, it’s not the Wii MotionPlus that makes Wii Sports Resort so great.
