Wii Virtual Cosole/WiiWare Update for December 1, 2008

We’ve finally made it through most of the fall madness and now here we are, in December. It’s been a great release season on the Virtual console and WiiWare, and this week, well, this week is kind of like Thanksgiving leftovers. Good and filling, but not necessarily pretty. We have a rather overpriced (but awesome in its own right) Metal Slug 2 (check it out in Metal Slug Anthology to get a better deal); a new concept for Space Invaders and a family party game styled after a frantic racing circuit (Pit Crew Panic!). As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points.

Wii Virtual Console, WiiWare update for September 22-28, 2008

Another week, another awesome update for the Wii’s downloadables – seriously, after an utterly crap summer, the last four weeks have been pretty wonderful. Today, we’ve got a very special title on our hands – Mega Man 9, a retro-revival of the popular franchise, done entirely in the style of his NES days. It looks awesome (and hard!) and any retro gamer itching for something entirely new (yet very old-school) should download immediately. Also looking good this week are the VC offerings: the very fun genesis action/platformer Vectorman, and the classic NES baller Super Dodgeball Rounding out the WiiWare offerings is a bizarre-looking puzzler called PLATTCHEN twist ‘n’ paint.

As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1=100 points.

Wii Virtual Console/WiiWare update for August 18-25, 2008

Another week, another rather lackluster update on the Wii’s downloadable services. This week’s saving grace is the original NES Mega Man; otherwise, we have another old sports game (which, outside of Tecmo Bowl, Ice Hockey and NBA Jam – you’d do well to avoid) and yet another pool game. Seriously – enough with the pool! In any event, all titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points.

Wii Virtual Console/WiiWare update July 7-13, 2008

This week, the Wii downloadable content services continue to offer up one new title and one retro game (and for the third week in a row, it’s a NEOGEO title). We have the relatively awesome classic King of the Monsters (the NEOGEO game) and the arcadey-looking SPOGS Racing on WiiWare. All titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points. On the VC count, the new game brings the North American total to 234.
