Wii Virtual Console and WiiWare update for March 9, 2009

As the Wii downloadable updates have been shrinking a bit, at least they aren’t lacking in quality. Any week that includes a Gradius retro-revival and actually retro Alex Kidd is fine by me. As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points.

Wii Virtual Console and WiiWare update for January 12, 2009

It looks like we have a fairly solid week on the Wii, with a few twists on parlor games (ok, it’s a stretch, but not a far one, for a wacky card game and a Pachinko title) and some vintage NES Castlevania III. My money’s on the classic this week. As always, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points.

Wii Virtual Console, WiiWare update for December 29, 2008

So, the last Wii downloadable update of 2008 is here, and it looks… interesting. We’ve got Star Tropics II on the Virtual console, along with a pool title and the rather abstract sounding (but cool looking) Maboshi’s Arcade on WiiWare. Happy New Year, Wii downloaders! As always, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points.

Wii Virtual Cosole/WiiWare Update for December 1, 2008

We’ve finally made it through most of the fall madness and now here we are, in December. It’s been a great release season on the Virtual console and WiiWare, and this week, well, this week is kind of like Thanksgiving leftovers. Good and filling, but not necessarily pretty. We have a rather overpriced (but awesome in its own right) Metal Slug 2 (check it out in Metal Slug Anthology to get a better deal); a new concept for Space Invaders and a family party game styled after a frantic racing circuit (Pit Crew Panic!). As usual, the titles are available on the Wii Shop channel, with a fresh batch arriving every Monday at 9 AM Pacific time. Wii points can be purchased at a rate of $1 for 100 points.
