Today Guinness World Records released a list of the to 50 videogame series of all time. This list was comprised of over 13,000 votes by Guinness readers. Critics and developers were not asked to participate in the creation with this list. Needless to say there are some elements of this list that are sure to displease some gamers.

The first thing you see when you open the Guinness World Records 2009: Gamer’s Edition is a two-page display of praise for the 2008 book by various print and web publications. You may also notice that Gamertell is not included in that or the second montage in the back of the book.

Guinness World Records is trying to get in on the hype surrounding the highly anticipated releases of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (March 17, 2009) and Resident Evil 5 (March 13, 2009) by announcing each of these franchises’ biggest records.
