XSEED picks up Sumioni: Demon Arts
One of the most artistic Vita launch titles is going to be released in North America! Yesterday, XSEED was teasing a new game release. It provided a picture of an assortment of items, and said four of them would aid you. It turns out, it was trying to let everyone know that it has picked up Sumioni: Demon Arts!
Sumioni is a 2D action game inspired by sumi-e paintings…
Review: Corpse Party for PSP
Moments in, you can tell Corpse Party isn’t going to be a happy story. And that isn’t just because the game happens to be called Corpse Party.
A group of seven Kisaragi Academy students, along with one little sister and a teacher, have decided to hang out at the school at night. Now, that on its own doesn’t seem right. Now, let’s make it even more ominous. Kisaragi Academy was built on the ruins of Heavenly Host Elementary, a school torn down because students and teachers were being kidnapped and killed. I think it’s time to start locating the exits…
Apparently, Satoshi, Naomi, Ayumi, Yoshiki, Yuka, Seiko, Mayu, Sakutaro and Yui don’t think that’s a big deal…
Review: Fishing Resort for Wii
It’s hard to get excited about fishing video games. They come out fairly often, without much fanfare, and each experience is hardly unique. You take a fisherman out to an ocean or lake, catch some fish, perhaps upgrade your tackle and repeat that ad nausem until you max out the score, catch every fish or just get bored of it all.
Fishing Resort tries to change that. Yes, it’s a basic fishing game, with an vast assortment of fish to catch, quite a few different kinds of tackle and lots of areas to visit. However, it tries to change things up and get players more involved by offering RPG-style quests and some very mild exploration elements to get players more invested in their virtual vacation…
Review: Fate/Extra for PSP
How real is virtual reality?
If you can see, feel and touch it, does it still count as virtual? If the events that happen there result in gaining the one thing you’ve always wanted most in the world, does that make it more authentic?
What if your actions in that artificial space could kill you?
Fate/Extra poses those kinds of questions. After a somewhat mysterious prologue, in which people are dropped into what seems to be an ordinary situation with no explanation, things happen that reveal the entire opening affair to be a lie.
Instead, players have found themselves participating in a very real war in an ephemeral place…
XSEED’s Corpse Party gets a November release and budget price
So, Corpse Party is a good thing. It’s a niche, PSP horror adventure thats a port of a Team GrisGris PC game. Normally, we wouldn’t get this kind of game, but XSEED decided that PSP owners still need some love even though the handheld is pretty much on its deathbed. I guess that makes it appropriate that one of its final games is designed to terrify players. It’s a shame it didn’t make it out in time for Halloween, but a budget price should make amends for that.
When Corpse Party hits the PlayStation Store later this month on November 22, 2011, it will only cost $19.99…
XSEED isn’t splitting up Fishing Resort and Sao-con
When Fishing Resort comes out November 22, 2011, Wii owners will have two variations to choose from. One’s a budget copy of the game that only costs $19.99 and is really everything you could need to play. The other is a slightly more extravagant bundle that’s $29.99 and includes Sao-con, Fishing Resort‘s one true love.
Okay, I’m kidding. Sao-con is just a peripheral…
XSEED has a new eStore
While it’s easy to go to your local game store or websites like Amazon to grab the latest games, some people prefer a more direct approach. They prefer to buy directly from publishers, in the hopes of showing exactly how much they enjoy their games or perhaps even get access to exclusive swag. As of October 4, 2011, there’s one more company you can buy directly from, and that’s XSEED. Yes, the purveyor of quality, import PSP, Wii, DS and Xbox 360 games has it’s very own eStore…
XSEED grabs Vanillaware’s Grand Knights History
Yesterday, XSEED teased its fans on Twitter about a forthcoming game announcement. The first tweet said, “Something is coming…” and the second was the anagram, “A RAVELING NOON SOUL.” Later in the day, a third clue made solving the anagram up into, “_ _ A _ O _ / _ O _ R _ _ / _ N I _ _.” Of course, now all that doesn’t matter, since XSEED has decided to tell the world it picked up Grand Knights History…
Prove you’re brave enough to attend Corpse Party
Are you afraid of the dark? If so, then don’t grab Corpse Party and play it without a light on. XSEED’s just picked up this surprisingly successful Japanese game that uses old school graphics, a creepy soundtrack, supernatural sound effects and a scary story to terrify players. You’ll have to stop by the PlayStation Store in Fall 2011 and download it to see how dark Corpse Party can get.
Corpse Party has a rather interesting history. It was originally a Team GrisGris PC doujin game from Japan, made with RPG maker…
Enjoy a staycation with Fishing Resort Wii
We all know that Namco Bandai can occasionally get a little picky when it comes to bringing games to North America. I mean, they’ve practically ignored the Tales series and a lot of niche Japanese releases like Fragile. Thankfully, there are companies like XSEED that are ready to step up and save the day. Which means Wii owners will get to play Fishing Resort on their Wiis this fall…
