Xbox Live YouTube app pushed out early for dashboard preview testers
We recently wrote about how much the Xbox Live community can’t wait to get their hands on the YouTube app that was promised to become available sometime this month. For some of them, the wait is over. Anyone who participated in the Xbox Live dashboard preview program can download the YouTube video app right now from the App Marketplace.
Xbox 360 owners are really looking forward to YouTube
Earlier today, we told you about how the Xbox 360 dashboard update has been delayed. Owners of the console are very excited about this update and the new features that will come along with it. This became very evident to us once we posted our video walkthrough of the the new Xbox 360 dashboard on YouTube. We’ve gotten a ton of feedback from viewers and it turns out a lot of them seem to be most excited about the Xbox 360 YouTube app.
Uncharted 3 gets deep Facebook and YouTube integration
Uncharted 2 contained a feature that sent out tweets whenever you completed a chapter. This lead to far too many updates and some users became annoyed with this attempt to utilize social networks in games. With Uncharted 3, Naughty Dog is using Facebook and YouTube to connect players without ever leaving the game.
Rumor: PS3 firmware 3.60 hacked
Here we go again. Sony’s latest firmware, 3.60 added online storage and a new layer of hacking protection. This firmware was believed to have solved the rampant hacking issues the PS3 has been having ever since its root key was exposed by George Hotz. PS3 super-hacker KaKaRoToKS examined the firmware briefly and believed any hacking attempts would have to start from scratch. Now a couple videos have appeared on YouTube of a user running custom code on a PS3.
YouTube prepping a new project for consoles
YouTube may have a more significant presence on consoles in the future. The company is currently hiring a game console software engineer. The ideal candidate will be developing some kind of software program to be used in what YouTube is calling the “next generation game console.” This position requires extensive experience with the PS3, Wii or Xbox 360, in addition to having at least three years of experience programming games.

Crackdown mini-series includes teasers to sequel
In anticipation of the July 6, 2010 release of Crackdown 2, Microsoft has debuted an animated mini-series based on the game’s tales of law and disorder in Pacific City. The five-part mini-series is called, “The Pacific City Archives”, which act as a bridge for the events between the first Crackdown and its upcoming sequel. The first episode was released on Friday, May 21, 2010.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 soundtrack released on YouTube
The quality of the tracks are of high quality. There are 47 tracks to enjoy. SMG2 has a soundtrack that is heavily orchestrated. It reminds me of a Disney movie soundtrack in the best possible way. Sonic 4 footage leaks onto YouTube
The Mad Gear Zone is an industrial stage with spinning platforms and looping tubes. It really does look like it came straight from the original Sonic games. Some of the classic sound effects are there too. Make sure you watch the entire video below to get a glimpse of Super Sonic in action.
PopCap giving away iPads, notebook PC to Bejeweled lovers
PopCap Games makes some very popular products, with its flagship title being the puzzle game Bejeweled. That little gem stacker, if you can believe it, is ten years old.
The “Show Your Bejeweled Love” giveaway challenges fans to submit a YouTube video singing the game’s praises in two minutes or less. The contest runs until May 26, 2010, but only those in the United States, Canada (excluding Quebec – sorry, eh) and the United Kingdom are eligible.
