Gamertell Review: Watchmen the movie
Based on a series of comics released by DC Comics in the late 1980s, Watchmen offers a twist to costumed super heroes. Directed by Zack Snyder (300, Dawn of the Dead), the film follows the original 12-issue series very closely, with many scenes and moments created to depict specific panels of the comic.
While this movie will not likely convert non-comic fans, it is a rather respectable adaptation and certainly honors both the comics and the era they were created (and set)…
Sneak Peek: Watchmen the movie
I attended an advance screening of Watchmen last night and, while I cannot give you a full review yet (that’ll come soon enough), here’s what I can tell you about Warner Bros. latest comic book-based flick without (major) spoilers…
Blu-ray Update: X-Men trilogy, Watchmen tie-in and digital comic coming March 2009
Just in time for the big-screen releases, dueling comic book companies put out must-have Blu-rays of popular franchises.
Three weeks after the Watchmen movie hit theaters, an animated movie, Watchmen: Tales of the Black Freighter, based on the story within a story concept featured in the original Watchmen 12-issue miniseries back in 1986. Also being released in March is Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic, a two-disc collection of the original twelve issues of the Watchmen comic book series.
Competing company Marvel is releasing all three X-Men feature films as a box set to preempt the May 1, 2009, release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

First look at Watchmen
2007 saw one of the best comic book movies of all time released, that being Frank Millar’s 300 which would go on to gross over $450 million worldwide. 300 was only the second motion picture to be directed by Zack Snyder who, after 300 and Dawn of the Dead (Snyder’s first film), would essentially be allowed to sign his own check. That was pretty much what he did with his biggest project, the highly acclaimed-award winning comic book Watchmen, which Snyder has wanted to turn into a film for quite some time.
A full year ahead of Watchmen(s) scheduled March 6, 2009 ,release date, Snyder has revealed the official Watchmen movie website as well as a first look at five of the film’s staring heroes: The Comedian, Nite Owl, Ozymandias, Rorschach and Silk Spectre…
