New York Comic Con 2011: Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword demo

Nintendo’s big game of the show for New York Comic Con this year was Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Nintendo set up no less than seven stations in its booth dedicated to the game.

The five most memorable moments of E3 2010

A lot of stuff goes down at any E3. However, there are always a few events that are talked about throughout the expo (and they are not necessarily newsworthy).

Here’s a look at five of the more memorable and chatted about happenings at E3 2010

E3 2010: Hands-on with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Everyone who was invited to Nintendo’s press conference yesterday got to take a firsthand look at the latest Wii game, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. It was a good opportunity, especially since everyone watching was teased by the game for at least 10 minutes when it was shown onstage. While the massive crowds temporarily detered me from taking my turn then, I had plenty of time to check the game out on the show floor.

Motion controls are much more intuitive this time around. The Wii remote is used as a sword, for general hacking and slashing. The nunchuk is used as your shield. You can press the A button to dash when your sword isn’t drawn, or to step and jump while fighting. The shield can be used to bash enemies, or in the case of Octoroks rebound their projectiles back at them…

E3 2010: Wii games to watch out for next week

There are going to be quite a few Wii games at E3 this year. Great, good and maybe even mediocre games. But, with so many being reported on at once, it could be difficult to keep track of which ones to watch and which to possibly overlook. So here’s a quick list of some interesting Wii games that will be appearing at E3, so you can know to keep an eye on them.

Just like the DS and PSP lists, this list of Wii games will be updated up until June 15, 2010. So if you ever have a question about what games might be worth checking out news blurbs on this year, you’ll know!

Let’s peek at some potentially awesome Wii games that’ll be at E3 2010!

Get clean with GEEKSOAP

GEEKSOAP is a website that makes custom bars of soap. It was started by Lesley, a girl gamer and teacher from Indiana. Lesley specializes in hand crafting bars of soap to fit anyone’s inner geek. Her website showcases bars of soap that were made to resemble NES, SNES, N64, Sega and Atari cartridges. Lesley also makes bars sporting the Bat-Signal, Link and the 1UP mushroom.

If I owned Nintendo

Many Wii’s are collecting dust in entertainment centers around the globe. Third party Nintendo games almost always yield lower than expected sales and gamers turn their attention away from the Wii for months at a time. I have come up with a plan that would revitalize the Wii for an entire year. It’s a simple plan, an obvious plan but Nintendo focuses on other issues. Here is what I would do if I owned Nintendo.

Top 50 videogame series of all time

Today Guinness World Records released a list of the to 50 videogame series of all time. This list was comprised of over 13,000 votes by Guinness readers. Critics and developers were not asked to participate in the creation with this list. Needless to say there are some elements of this list that are sure to displease some gamers.

Nintendo’s Dunaway: New Wii Zelda in 2010

2010 is shaping up to be a pretty fantastic year for hardcore Nintendo fans. With a new Mario title (Super Mario Galaxy 2), a new Metroid game (Metroid: Other M) and now, strong hints of the new Wii Zelda title, things are looking up. Our headline comes from Wired, where writer Chris Kohler spoke with Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President Cammie Dunaway. From the post:

Open Letter: Hey, Nintendo, reveal Zelda Wii already, will ya?!

I’ve had it.

I’ve had it with the smoke and mirrors, subtle hints and deception.

Just announce the next Legend of Zelda Wii game already!

It’s not that I‘m interested in it. I’m still playing my way through The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I’m sick of the teasing, hinting and constant reports on any trivial detail related to it…

Famitsu interview suggests playable Wii Zelda game at E3 2010

There’s some pleasant news out of Japan today for Wii owners. Andriasang reports that Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma said in a recent Famitsu that the next The Legend of Zelda Wii game could be playable at E3 2010. Also interesting is the suggestion that the new Zelda game could even be released in 2010.

And no, there’s still no solid information to go on. No official name, no release window, no box art and no screenshots. All we have is that image at the right that appeared at E3 2009 and the knowledge that it will require the MotionPlus peripheral. It’s kind of sad, really. All we have is speculation and the tiny tidbits of hope that Nintendo executives decide we’re worthy of knowing.

If the name Eiji Aonuma doesn’t sound familiar, then you obviously haven’t played many Zelda games. Aonuma is a designer, director and producer whose previous video game credits include The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
