Gaia Online releases its latest community game, Frontier Skies

Gaia Interactive, owner of Gaia Online, recently announced the release of its newest community game titled Frontier Skies.

Frontier Skies is part of Gaia’s 2010 Summer Event making this its third year on Gaia Online. For the first time, the game will live on the site beyond the duration of the Summer Event. In 2009, more than 470,000 Gaians participated in the online Summer Event, making it one of the largest events of its kind…

Gaia Online enhances zOMG! with “randomized epic quests”

As a fan of Gaia Online, I was glad to have received a message from Christina Simmons, assistant account executive of public relations at Mullens PR, that Gaia Online has launched new features for its free MMO game zOMG!

“Hi Lucy, The fun just doesn’t stop over at Gaia Online! Today the site launches new exciting features to zOMG!, Gaia Online’s free-to-play MMO. For the first time ever, zOMG! will engage users in a whole new way with in-game mini-events – otherwise known as randomized epic quests, that will give players a unique experience each time they enter the game,” Simmons said.

I had to check this out since I was getting bored with trying to level up by picking on green hamsters in the sewers just to infiltrate the garden gnome armies and pink flamingos in the gardens. The mini-events are random that could range from Aerial Bombardments to an insect overload with Bug Breakout! to name a few. And according to zOMG! senior producer and creative director Dave Georgeson who hinted changes coming to the MMO, that this is just the beginning.

Gamertell Exclusive: Interview with senior producer, creative director Dave Georgeson about zOMG!

Since the free browser-based MMMORPG zOMG! started allowing players in 2008, it has been widely talked about in the forums. Guilds have formed to help others complete quests and meet other players who love the game.

I had a chance to talk with zOMG! senior producer and creative director Dave Georgeson and got an update on what has been happening on zOMG! and find out about future updates.

500,000 join zOMG!’s open beta during the first week

Just got word from Kate Pietrelli at TriplePoint that the crew over at Gaia Online are pleased with the more than 500,000 players who have joined to play zOMG!

“Hi Lucy. Hope all is well with you. I just wanted to give you a heads up about our recent announcement that the Gaia Online casual MMO just reached over 500,000 players in Open Beta! So exciting!” Pietrelli said.

A majority of the new Gaians joined out of curiosity about zOMG! and, for existing Gaians, it’s a celebration to…

New MMO zOMG! a hit among Gaians

Gaia online is an awesome place to hang out and I know. I’m a Gaian too.

Recently I had the honor to play zOMG! during its testing phase and chatted with a few Gaians and Senior Producer Dave Georgeson about the new MMO.

When you first start the game you take a nice leisurely train ride into the Gaia online world of zOMG! That is until you realize the train is controlled by a computer that has malfunctioned. It won’t take long before you arrive safely at the train station for some training and then off on your own to explore the world. Just look out for those cute little fluffy clouds, green hamsters and garden gnomes. They can catch you by surprise if your not careful…

Gaia announces public open beta launch of new MMO, zOMG!

Just got word from Kate Pietrelli of TriplePoint that the company is going to announce the public Open Beta launch of their new MMO zOMG! today (November 6, 2008.)

“I just wanted to give you a heads up that Gaia Online is announcing the public Open Beta launch of their MMO game in development, zOMG! … when the game launches into Open Beta for public access, millions of Gaia community members as well as new members to the community can join in and play this free, browser-based MMO game,” Pietrelli wrote.

This is great news and…

Gaia golden ticket holders to play zOMG! early

Some very lucky Gaia Online members are going to have golden tickets. Gaia Online’s browser-based MMORPG, zOMG!, is going to be entering open beta soon, but before that, 8,500 Gaia Online members who’ve registered will be given a golden ticket to participate on October 27, 2008. Better log in and check your email to see if you’re one of the lucky ones, if you tried to register…

An update of the upcoming zOMG! MMO on Gaia Online

For those of you who remember the Gaia Online announcements from Boston Anime 2008 in March and zOMG! closed-beta announcement in July 2008.

I was tickled pink to take a personal tour of the upcoming zOMG! MMO game with senior producer and director of zOMG!, Dave Georgeson. The game looks amazing. Don’t let those little saucer-eyed marshmallow puffs of cuteness fool you. From the preview demonstration Georgeson and his team gave, its nothing I’d wanna hug or hang around with but its a world I can’t wait to explore.

If you think Gaia Online is amazing, you will be more than pleased with their newest game scheduled for the end of Summer 2008…

Gaia Online’s browser MMO zOMG! enters closed beta

Gaia Online‘s flash, browser MMO zOMG! has just entered the closed beta period today (July 28, 2008), and over 10,000 of the 120,000 people who applied have been allowed in. Gaia Online began work on zOMG! in 2006, and in April, 2008, applications for the closed beta were accepted.

zOMG! looks to be your standard MMO, with extra social and casual elements added into it. Users can battle monsters and level grind to create amazing avatars, interact with other zOMG! users and play mini-games.
