IMAX’s Private Theatre concept has been pretty nuts thus far. In a completely awesome way. For $2 million, you get your own IMAX-quality custom home cinema, complete with 24/7/365 custom support from IMAX and exacting technical design. Details to this point have been a little broad when it comes to the hardware involved, but now we at least know what the content delivery system will be for these amazing private cinemas. Mozaex, best known for its multi-room media servers and surround headphones, has been chose to provide the audio/video servers for the new ultra-high-end rooms.
Via the press release:
“Mozaex is truly honored to have been selected by IMAX to co-develop a custom server for use in their IMAX Private Theatre,” said Mozaex CEO Douglas Kihm. “During the past three years, IMAX and Mozaex co-designed a custom solution that meets IMAX’s exacting, unrivaled world-class standards. The IMAX Private Theatre has set a whole new in-home theater standard of quality and immersive user experience which we are very proud to be a part of.”
Mozaex will produced a customized implementation of its existing product, which judging by the press release boilerplate will support a plethora of disc, streaming, audio, and other media features to enjoy in your very large, very expensive new toy. Mozaex has a three-decade history of providing media applications, first to computer makers like Gateway and Dell, and then later in building its own custom media servers. So IMAX definitely isn’t paring up with a slouch or a rookie here.
