Honeywell's Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control hears you.

Ever walk into a room and say, “Brrr! It’s cold in here”? Well, now you can have a conversation with your thermostat about it.

Honeywell’s new Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice Control is DIY and operates totally hands-free. It responds when you say, “Hello, thermostat,” and then takes your orders from there.

From the press release:

[Its] advanced far-field voice-control technology… breaks through the ambient noise of a busy household and recognizes commands such as “make it four degrees warmer” or “make it much cooler” — even from across the room. Upon installation, the thermostat immediately recognizes the homeowner’s voice and adjusts the temperature setting based on their request. This is the first cloud-based voice controlled solution that will get smarter over time, adding more commands based on its interactions with homeowners.

Soak that in. That’s some amazing stuff. This video brings it home:

The thermostat’s Wi-Fi connectivity allows control through your smartphone via Honeywell’s Total Connect Comfort app for iOS and Android.

It’s coming in November at an SRP of $349. It’ll be available at Lowe’s, Home Depot and Best Buy. You can also pre-order it via Amazon.
