Today, Sony unveiled its latest head mounted display: the HMZ-T3W Personal 3D Viewer. This new VR unit contains two OLED panels split like the Oculus Rift to provide stereoscopic viewing on the go. And with the addition of a new external battery pack, the device is now portable.
The HMZ-T3 battery pack serves a dual function, both juicing the device and charging smartphones, tablets, or other media that it’s connected to at the same time. Sony’s head mounted display supports pretty much anything you can hook up to it via HDMI, including Blu-ray 3D players, games consoles, and even WirelessHD devices.
When you have a virtual 750 inch screen in front of you, you need to have a sound system to match. Either by using the included 16mm headphones, or supplying your own, the HMZ-T3 provides full 7.1 virtual surround sound.
If you’ve got the $999 pre-order price, and want to look like you’re playing X-Men on your business trips, you should be able to land your grubby mitts on a unit by either calling 1-877-865-7669 or visiting your local Sony Store to reserve one.
