According to Samsung Global, Samsung Smart TV models for 2014, which will premiere at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) January 7-10 in Las Vegas, will feature improved motion control and ‘finger gesture’. Samsung will also expand their voice control to 12 new countries (in addition to the existing 11). Samsung has also made the service more convenient by focusing on the most frequently-used functions and taking into consideration user’s usage patterns.
“Samsung’s 2014 Smart TV models deliver significantly improved voice interaction and motion control features so that our consumers will be able to enjoy our Smart TV more intuitively,” said Kyungshik Lee, Senior Vice President of the Service Strategy Team of Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to develop content that integrates voice and motion recognition for added convenience.”
With the 2014 Samsung Smart TV, users can change the channel by saying just the channel number, as opposed to 2013 models which required two voice commands ‘Channel Change’ and ‘Channel Number’. When you use your voice to search for daily living information such as weather, stocks, and sports while watching TV, a pop-up window appears on the bottom of the page with search results.
The ‘finger gesture’ feature of the 2014 Smart TVs let you change the TV channel, adjust the volume, find and select what you want to watch just by using your fingers. You can go back to the previous screen and stop the video by motioning your finger counterclockwise. We’ll report back at CES to let you know how it works!
