The Gefen ToolBox 4×4 Matrix is ideal for home theater systems, multi-room installations, and any other installations where Ultra High Definition HDCP-compliant AV content from up to four HDMI sources needs to be routed to up to four Ultra HD displays.

A few weeks ago, we reported on Crestron’s new 4K switching solution, and now Gefen is entering the 4K switching and distribution fray with two new ToolBox Matrix Switchers for HDMI 4Kx2K that will help homeowners and businesses build a 4K infrastructure and shuttle 4K content from sources to displays. Now that new Ultra HD displays  are available and the content is trickling out, those with the dough to get 4K Ultra HD in every room need solutions to help accomplish this. Here are the details:

The 4×4 Matrix for HDMI 4Kx2K routes four sources to any combination of four displays and supports 3DTV pass-through. The 6×2 Matrix for HDMI 4Kx2K routes six sources to two independent displays. Backward compatibility with 1080p full HD resolutions makes both solutions a useful addition to an existing or new high definition system geared for immediate deployment and future Ultra HD compatibility.

What does that all mean? It means that it will get 4K Ultra HD signals around your home, as well as HDTV signals, from a bevy of sources to a bevy of displays. According to Gefen, its Fast Switching Technology will improve the lengthy HDCP authentication process. Lossless audio formats such as LPCM 7.1, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD Master Audio are delivered along with the video.
