Atlantic Technology today introduced an innovative approach for “upgrading” existing speakers in a home to the Dolby Atmos surround sound system with its new 44-DA Dolby Atmos-enabled home theater speaker module.

Dobly Atmos takes “surround sound” to the next level by adding overhead sounds to your audio mix. Learn more about Atmos here.

The compact module can be added to Atlantic’s existing speaker systems, such as its THX-certified 4400 LR speakers, “or, for that matter, to ANY existing home theater,” claims the company.

The 44-DA, which has a 5.25-inch woofer and one-inch silk dome tweeter, fires from the top of the speaker enclosure at a precisely-determined angle to deliver the Atmos effect without the need to invest in a specially-made Atmos speaker.

“Particular attention has been paid to delivering a ‘controlled acoustic scatter’ in an effort to dramatically broaden the sweet spot of the sound reflected by the ceiling, allowing for greater placement flexibility within the listening room,” says the company.

The modules can also be used as standalone elevation speakers for an Atmos system.

The 44-DA will be available in the fourth quarter at $499 per pair.
