While such gigantic displays are mostly intended for commercial installations (or, let’s face it, corporate bragging rights), there are people like Kevin Smith who feel that it just can’t possibly get any better at home than mounting a 500 pound, 103 inch plasma to the wall. How about 103 inches in 3D, though?
Currently considered the top-of-the-line 3D experience, Panasonic’s latest plasmas incorporate KURO technology borrowed from Pioneerfor the deepest blacks on the market. And now that ultimate 3D experience is getting a whole lot bigger, for those with the mad bank to afford it. Panasonic’s new 103-inch TH-P103MT2 boasts a native contrast of 5,000,000:1 and is manufactured to order, so the only place you’re going to be able to test one of these beasts is in one of Panasonic’s touring trucks.
With an SRP of 8.5 million yen ($100,000), which doesn’t include shipping, handling, delivery, setup, or storage of the beast (although Panasonic does throw in a pair of 3D glasses), this one certainly isn’t for the faint of heart of light of pocket. On the upside, that 3D copy of Avatar is totally yours.
